Why WoW is going down hill, its really very simple

Sure, but did you get the coffee cup for free? That is what I am saying. Nothing we got in WoW was “free” everything was paid for.

I beg to differ, the story is still good, but honestly the content is being decreased.

We used to get 2-3 dungeons every patch, and then it went to 1-2 and now its just 1. They’ve cut many beloved spells, and have started dumbing down the game. They’ve made crafting even more brainless than before.

But as long as the story is good people will keep eating it up.

Really? Venari and Korthia collector would beg to differ. Or those weekly covenant chores?

I mean maybe less than “recent history” if you take into account the AK/AP systems that no one wanted back from Legion + BFA.

The dailies take all of 15 minutes. You DONT need to be grinding. The fact that you think you need to is why Blizzard time gates so much crap. Because of people like you.

Per toon. Per week.

Cute, but no. If it weren’t time gated, I’d bang it out in a weekend and move on with my life. Don’t put that garbage on me (or people like me).

You mean like its literally ALWAYS been?

I don’t recall all of the chores in vanilla, tbc, wrath, cata.

It sort of started with the mop cloak. Then kicked into high gear with Legion+.

Really? Because dailies have been a here since BC, and they took a hell of a lot more time than the ones today.

And in Vanilla, farming mats for raids was a serious chore. Or are you going to pretend like it wasnt? Meanwhile, your mission table will give you all the mats you need virtually passively .

What were the mandatory rewards you needed from dailies in TBC to stay competitive?

You could and still can, buy those.

lol some ppl just have to hardcore project all their angst n misery onto others…

and for dose ppl I give flowers.

*throws a daisy at OP

What were the mandatory rewards from Venari or Archivists? And no, sockets arent mandatory.

Ah ya, because people had SOOO much gold in Vanilla. Shows you didnt play.

Okay. And what’s that filth? Shop mounts? Yeah, every MMO has them, that’s unavoidable. The expansions themselves and the content within? I mean you could make that argument, but I found the majority that actually claim the game has little to no content actually don’t even play the game, they simply mount and xmog farm. So… Yeah?

I mean, that is true, but to say the MMO genre still isn’t big is naive, given the revenue Blizzard STILL makes despite losses and the other games that are in the genre.

I think free to play is essentially the future of any game that wants to be accessible and appeal to the biggest demographic possible and wants to make as much cash as possible.

Yeah, that’s why they keep making content for it.

$3032 over 17 years for a hobby, the horror! That’s a one month mortgage payment in So Cal lol.

^This, and…

^This.

Depends on how you play?

Umm what? So sockets and conduits aren’t mandatory but consumables are?

You either care about min/maxing or you don’t.

Also - electing not to go for BiS is a choice, but by that argument no content in this game is mandatory.

“Proper” gearing involves looking at stats, sockets, consumables, borrowed power gains (whatever the current xpac/patch), etc.

You need to pick a lane.

As to having gold in vanilla, I don’t recall having enough gold for consumables being a problem even as far back as vanilla. Nor was it an issue again in classic.

Making gold was/is always easy if you know what you are doing.

You are the one that brought up mandatory.

Nothing from the rep vendors is mandatory outside of high level content. Hell legendry’s arent even really mandatory for things like LFR or Normal which the vast majority of players dont go past.

Yeah a lot of people would beg to differ.

If you want to eek out performance out of your character all of that stuff will feel mandatory to you.

Fact remains none of those xpacs had dailies that were necessary for character progression. Certainly not beyond raid launch.

As opposed to the current daily content that does have character progression based rewards.

That is undeniable. If you choose to ignore them, that’s fine, but there is definitely character progression associated to it. Full stop.

Fiduciary duty is the death of all pure artistic passion, and games aren’t exempt from this.

False. You couldnt even go into heroics until you hit revered with factions in BC. You clearly never played back then.

I absolutely did.

How did you grind out rep in TBC? Remind us.

Not a fair comparison since (A) WoW has no player housing, and (B) you’re ignoring that player housing takes up space in the game world in FFXIV. Yes, it’s a phased area where there are multiple instances of the same area in the same place, but they still don’t want huge pockets for those neighborhoods to be dead because they players who have those houses aren’t actively playing. So that makes sense.

Same with the housing in Aion. That was even MORE tight than in FFXIV and also took up space. If you stopped playing and thus stopped paying for your house, it was sold by the game to an active player because there would be no point in people who aren’t playing holding down all the houses while active players couldn’t get one.
