Racials aren’t the issue right NOW. You’re 100% right.
Ok. So how will Blizzard get a larger revenue stream from allegedly making the Alliance bad?
PS. They aren’t making the Alliance bad.
Do you really think Activision would make the game experience as negative as possible in an effort to milk as much money from their players as possible? They would never do something like that, aside from all the other times they’ve done it. You are being paranoid, and the fact that they’ve done this countless times with many other games is pure coincidence… really!
Well giving another op racial to horde won’t improve matters…and they just did that, it was all part of the plan to push race change cash in.
No. Its apparently not conceivable that a game company that openly has an official-company guild on one faction in game are that biased.
I just don’t see it.
Ion never made anything bad in hopes of balancing out the game, in any context before. I don’t recall him EVER saying such a phrase in an interview years ago… and quite possibly being the iconic image of how Blizzard tries to balance the game by ultimately making one thing bad and another thing good, even though that makes people who are stuck with the bad thing very unhappy with the product… No way. Can’t see it myself. I’m convinced apparently.
During vanilla alliance did. /shrug
Bit late to this one, but from what I’ve been told it seems that the actual raw population is not imbalanced. It’s something like 51 - 49 for raw numbers, but the problem is participation and mentality. It’s abundantly clear there are less competetive players on alliance when you look at pve leaderboards and rankings, so how do they fix that?
Everyone assumes the way is to just give them access to more players, but what does that solve?
Instead, there has to be a way to get the players already there to be more motivated to join guilds and groups and progress thier characters.
And for the record, I think this is a problem on U.S. realms especially. I know no one thinks much about eu, but they make up a significant portion of the player base and at least for mythic plus, they seem to have much much more activity than we do.
So it depends how we feel about regional imbalance too, because that obviously does matter as much as overall if not more.
An “official-company-guild”?
like nerfing LFR did in WoD… oh wait.
It did improve matters. It gave the remaining Alliance players even more incentive to switch over and pay Blizzard that sweet $$$$$.
Can’t wait to see which OP Alliance racial they introduce once the transfer bucks start drying up. They’re probably saving the OP racial to pair it up with High Elves to attract even more transfer cash. I know it will be hilariously broken, and I can’t wait to see the forums riot when it’s announced.
Removing it would be step 1, but it wont do anything specific for ally.
Why is no one asking any of the top guilds why they left?
Why did the Alliance players leave when this started as a rumor/trend a few years back? It was going around like wildfire if you played the Alliance.
“Oh did you hear X just left? Almost the whole guild faction transferred!” Then we see the effect take place with youtubers etc talking about it all. Then we see the evidence on our own servers. Then you see the leaderboards, and watch the guilds transfer.
This was before the claim of “better community” because on the Alliance at that time we still had all of our top guilds, even showing up on leaderboards.
So why?
Racials. If both communities are the same prior to this exodus of Alliance players, there is no other factor to why you never heard a top guild leave the Horde for the Alliance since the time of WoD when all of this really started.
it wouldn’t… you cant force people to do stuff they don’t want to.
Ya it’s regrettable that happened, but you can’t undo the past. Racials are not like that any more, and alliance have some of the highest impact ones now, but no one is looking for that advantage any more. I’d kill for shadowmeld or the dark iron stuff. Insanely useful for mythic plus. Free necrotic drop!
I agree. You can’t ultimately undo the past in this way.
When it comes to Zandalari, I know a lot of the top guilds from a few servers I play on are openly discussing dropping Alliance for Horde just for the Horde racials now. That being Zandalari.
They’re not only really cool but have really good pve racials, and as evidence has shown, with the right class and circumstance, their healing racial can be a game breaker.
Either way, if we are worried about this problem (which I honestly am not, I just tell everyone to switch to horde) then we need to find a way to convince competetive players alliance is worth sticking with. Geuss the light hearted atmosphere of ally attracts the opposite of that though, so maybe it’s an unsolvable problem.
Ironically it will be a non issue in classic because of paladin, so maybe the answer is start by giving them something demonstrably over powered next expansion?
Well it doesn’t hurt for Blizz to try and fix the Alliance.
The Horde’s experience will not be affected negatively by trying to give the Alliance better racials.
If you’re not worried, well we are then. So its between the Alliance and Blizzard at this point I guess.
Well since i am horde and remember how pallies made MANY fights easier… The alliance was always quiet about the imbalance (PvE wise in vanilla). They claim racials… but i honestly think its more than just that.
Here’s my two cents, the top guilds go for racials not cause things are cooler…when Ion says it’s only one percent difference between racials but that’s exactly the top end guilds needs to be competitive. So where do you think they will go?
Eye for an eye is not how we should view this imbalance issue.
Everyone entering this discussion by telling Alliance players to “suck it up buttercup, join the Horde. Nothing gonna get fixed honey.” Is only going to make me and all of our alliance friends complain more.
So if ignorance is bliss if the anti-Alliance Hordies want to hurt our efforts. Saying there is nothing that can be done literally gives me more hope they can fix all of this.
