The whole Maldraxxus zone annoys me. Some developer was going for Disney Scourge Lite, and glossed over the entire crazy concept of having evil villains running around as “honorable” when they are anything but.
I’m just sick of hearing everyone bagging out the story of Shadowlands, even Accolonn my fav streamer is bagging it out now, I can’t even log onto YouTube without videos saying that “Shadowlands has been an embarrassment for World of Warcraft”, how “Shadowlands went from saving wow to killing it”, how people feel that what happened to Arthas is somehow a ‘slap in the face to fans’ and other rubbish.
Garrosh is dead, Arthas is dead, Sylvanas is not and we need to get over it.
I mean what people need to realize is that sometimes you just have to make up the story as you go along.

This was supposedly mapped out on a grand scale, though I do think with the changes in leadership and dev leads that their priorities changed. Sylvanas’ character was handled horribly, and should never have dragged PLAYER factions into the middle of story conflicts that affected both their gameplay and lore roleplaying, since there was no actual resolution or choice for the players.
It was bad writing. Honestly, I could care less about Anima Fart Arthas, only the fact they felt the need to literally dig up his remains AGAIN for such a throwaway moment was stupid. Doubly so when his SISTER is hanging out in Shadowlands, and has zip to actually do or say to be involved in what’s going on.
The heavy handed retcon of “MWHAHAHA, THE JAILER DID EVERYTHING, SEE?!” trying to rewrite the major events was also seriously questionable, and made Sylvanas look even more dumb and incompetent as a leader. Instead of a flawed intelligent and cunning strategist, she’s reduced to a brainless bimbo who was manipulated and led by the nose to commit horrific acts of genocide. And the whole Night Warrior/Elune arc was insulting as hell when again the Night Elves end up screwed overall by the story.
Shadowlands is one of the weakest expansions, imo, in terms of both lore and in how unsatisfactory it handled the resolution.

Not a single person who hates the story of shadowlands was implying any of the stories of Warcraft was original, what they LITERALLY said was that it’s trash.
For someone who is attempting to come off as one who studies and knows a lot about literature, you somehow failed to read.

It’s extra dumb that the majority of the book didn’t even go through the Jailer’s motivations, or flesh out the conflict between the Covenant leaders when they banished him. Instead it was a long winded attempt to deflect and shield Sylvanas from actual consequences.

I never said I knew everything, I only know about youtube videos that talk about “the heroes journey” or some such and how all stories are therefore kinda the same
Literally contradicting your self, nothing was wrong with the story of WoW prior to cata.
That’s becauase people think Wrath was awesome, when in reality Arthas was nothing but an inversion of the King Arthur story
