Why wasn’t there a Storm Drake?

I know they would’ve reused the Highland Drake model for it, but why didn’t they make a Storm Drake Dragonriding mount?

Was it because the existing ones were detailed enough already and with Dynamic flying enabled, Blizzard thought there was just no reason for a new one?

They were barely relevant. Not a lot of need to make something that doesn’t really tie into the story for more than a single quest chain.

If i had to hazard a guess their options were probably either storm drakes of netherdrakes, after deciding on the emerald dream dragons.

Then they figured netherdrakes had more nostalgia attatched.

Most likely.

There isn’t a whole lot of difference in quality between Legion models and Dragonflight models, and every mount is gonna get dynamic flight anyway, so there really isn’t much of a point in spending development resources in that.

Compare the old Drake and Protodrake models to the Storm Drake model, and you’ll see which drakes REALLY needed an update lol

Oh man, no kidding. I love my Onyxian drake but she is looking tired

Me angy because the dragonriding nether drake just doesn’t measure up because the WINGS are just normal Highland drake wings and not the sleek web wings with wispy trails.

Well, we do kinda have Storm Drakes. :mag::robot:

Or for that matter, the Tangled Dreamweaver. The dragonflight CE mount, which even got featured in the launch cinematic. It’s crazy that it wasn’t at least a full transformation option for the highland drake.

Storm drake. Singular.

Oddly enough I was just talking about this with a friend last night. lol

But we’ll have dragonriding for most mounts in 11.0, so that’ll be nice.
