Why was mages water elemental removed?

The pet was useless in any situation.

It was aesthetically nice for mages.

Useless in pve, the snare would just break instantly and does near zero DMG.

Same in pvp

Even moreso in raids where snares are pointless. And pet ai turns em even more useless.

But you can buy an elemental pet in your class hall! And your pets back with your very important cool down icy veins!

My main thing with the elemental was the bubbling sound it constantly made

Mages have to comply with local water conservation guidelines.

That joke didn’t work? How about…

Too many people asked for mage water.

Honestly, considering in WC3 the summoned elementals were on a timer, it makes it more true to the fantasy of it being something that is summoned briefly and then dispelled.

Pet was great to keep Rogues from re-stealthing or melding.

For PVP it prevented meld to stealth all the time or druids drinking. Pets are underrated in PVP.

So, this is the new troll/give me attention trend/thread?

Low level/achievement points troll accounts are going hard on these forums lately.

It’s gone for many reasons and it’s what the majority of mages wanted. A quick search along with reading a couple of these replies will show you the reasons why.

You really don’t care though. This is just bait.

This is the best you can do:

  1. Go to Zul’Farrak.
  2. Find a Water Waveling and capture it in a pet battle.
  3. Name it.
  4. Feed it Magical Pet Biscuits to enlarge it.

I did not realize it was removed, but did always wonder what relationship mages are supposed to have with the elements. Isn’t that what shaman do? I mean, did mages coerce the elementals the way warlocks do demons? Or did they befriend them? Did they have a reverential relationship or a business one? It was never really defined.

because it never should have been added. they were righting an ancient wrong

It’s really frustrating for RP purposes, seeing as I’d been using it on my mages for years. They could have added an optional button to keep the elemental summoned but only make it do anything during Icy Veins.

Mages either forcibly summon and bind them, or they conjure and enchant a bunch of water - according to the in-game book on conjuration, at least.

Because a streamer suggested the removal.

It was mostly used in pvp for extra cc and extra opportunities for ice lance crits since its ability was a death and decay style frost nova.
Micromanaging it was annoying though.

We do need more pet classes. I think rogue should get a Druid pet. Could stealth around with em. When the rogue pops outta stealth the druid would go bear form n pull aggro. When the rogue needs a heal it could throw some hots on him. If the rogues vanish is on cd and needs to escape, druid could give him a ride in travel form. If the enemy tried running away, moonkin form it is, starts casting roots, moonfire n starfire. It’d be great…

I heard it was because the things were leaving water puddles everywhere, which is a hazard. People can slip, and nobody wants to have to deal with lawsuits, least of all the insurance companies or people paying more expensive premiums.

People are too litigious. This is why we can’t have nice things. Easier to just get rid of them.

You will be fine, I took a break from the game came back and got used to the change. I feel you though I liked my water elemental too. They did a good job with the change too tbh and it doesn’t change your gameplay too much

Between “water elemental doesn’t fit mage” and MM hunter being designed around snipers rather than the obvious elf ranger hero inspiration are we sure that Ion actually ever played 3

I miss my water elemental. It’s removal forced me to never play frost again. I didn’t use him for damage, but utility and companionship.

We also were able to name them at one point. Little Umiko, rip.

Derived from umi (the sea) and ko (child): hence, “child of the sea.”

RIP little drip.

The enchanting seems appropriate for mages. If it was forcibly binding them, then maybe the shaman talked them into ceasing that practice.
