Why try. 279 gear level, and lowest dps. Of course

I look at sites like [murlok-io/meta/dps/m+], and they show Frost mages doing more damage than fire or arcane, where those two are near the bottom, and frost is like 17th place.

I’m so tired of this. Its simple. We are a dps class. In all situations, our class, bar none, should be guaranteed to the highest dps, if not in the top 5 specs. And we should never be lower than melee classes, period.

The reason is simple. “Glass Cannon”.

For 20+ years, you’ve managed to only have gotten this right once to my knowledge, back in WotLK, for Arcane, when Arc-Blast was first introduced, and you’ve never been slightly close ever since.

The biggest problem right now is that RIDICULOUS HoF/RoF spec. It’s just so sad, that we only have reliable half decent damage like very 2 minutes. Feels like the old 3 minute mage of Pyroblast and the instant cast PoM of old days.

That HoF/RoF depends on us standing still, and the raid boss fights are anything but standing still. Like it would KILL you to make it stay casting while we move.

And then there is the RIDICULOUSLY low damage from Frostbolt and Glacial SPITE. Go to the training dummies, and target the raid boss one and cast frostbolt without ROFLMAO facial expressions, and see a crit for 15K. With 279 gear level. Or Glacial SPITE do 25K damage. Frostbolt is our filler now. If we don’t cast it, we don’t get any goodies like brains freeze, or fingers of frost. Pffft, that murlok-io site even recommend you use RoF basically instated of frost bolt just to get the freezing stacks.

In these raids, they expect 50K+ dps.

Its another “Why bring a mage”. yet again.

You should definitely be doing more than 50k dps.

Comparing your 5 min voarasius fight vs mine from a few weeks ago at about the same duration I have a lot more casts in general. Which makes me think you’re not pressing your buttons enough. Like I have 40% more ice Lances and almost double the frozen orb casts. And I have a lot less haste than you as well.

Wow analyzer also shows you clipping your ray of frost casts and munching your brain freeze procs. And it is complaining about your enchants.

I suggest reading through the dps guide on wowhead and practicing on a target dummy for a bit and you’ll see that dps improve.

This one took me longer to figure out then it likely should have.. now i just stay at the back skip all the ring mechanics and just turrent most of the fight. Went from a bad running around caster fight to ezpz.

Fair. But the problems OP is having show up on other bosses as well. They should definitely read over the wowhead guide and practice on a target dummy.

For example, they’re missing some pretty important talents in their build and at one point on the fallen king fight they spent 15 seconds spamming arcane explosion.

They also have other frost mages in their logs green parsing and doing 50% more damage than them.

Oh, I agree — mage has definitely seen better days. But I had no trouble hitting the usual milestones. It wasn’t until scaling that the issues really became obvious. And not to be rude, but I’m confident I could put together a one‑button rotation build that breaks 50k. Again, not trying to be rude — it’s just another tool in the kit that a player can use while working toward full fight mastery

To everyone replying to my post. TY.

The issue is the class has always been treated as fodder. It’s the premise of mistreatment, not gear, enchants, rotation, or gems.

If a 20+ year mage player, whose been to/thru years of raids says “Why bring a mage”, is the ever ongoing reality of game play, then we should be looking at more ways to INSULT and RIDICULE the owners and devs, and certainly NOT their built in diagnostics to explain something that extends for decades of history.

Tell them that Arcane Intellect stacked like 20 times or more basically turns the whole raid into supergeniuses. Healers heal harder, DPS DPSes harder, and everyone instantly looks more intelligent.

And of course, it’s a way better lust than that sad little blumb blumb blumb noise

Pfft they solved that decades ago. They’d invite a single mages, get buffed, then kick the mage out.

Of course, back then, they’d make sure to get mage food before they kicked the mage out.

If your raid squad is basically immortal and never touches the floor, I guess that plan checks out..

You should be doing significantly more than that. My mage is doing way more than that in delves and m+ without non-group buffs.

That website still shows us way below the market.

I suspect frankly, CHEATING. Either the devs cherry pick random players, or more likely, they pay them, to be the ones thru CHEAT mechanics, that get good dps so they can keep up the illusion.

Just because you’ve played the spec for a long time, it doesn’t mean you’re good at the spec.

The buff goes away when you’re removed from the group.

No. Back then the buff stayed after leaving the raid. And so did the biscuits.

Yes, but who cares? They fixed that problem.

This is absolutely insane.

I just hope they were also jumping while casting arcane explosion. Everyone knows it does 20% more damage if cast in the air./s
