Prot Paladins don’t actually have access to Divine Protection. They instead have Ardent Defender, which has double the cooldown (2 min) and isn’t usable in a stun. womp womp
Maybe it’s becoming a choice node in 11.5 because I could have sworn I read about divine protection buffs for both holy and protection paladin.
It was a typo that they fixed shortly after.
Sadly even if they did allow Prots to have it, the modifying talent to make it slightly better was already nerfed by 50% in pvp and is a choice node with Blessing of Spell Protection.
There is currently no light at the end of the tunnel for Prot Paladin’s in PvP. They seem to have no idea why the spec struggles in PvP. The only know how to buff or nerf healing, which is only a part of the problem.
I haven’t played protection paladin seriously for p v p since battle for azaroth, but even then, its weaknesses were none of its defensives do anything for itself when you’re carrying an orb or a flag, and that’s still true
Agreed. It’s a dang shame.
Personally, I’d like to see them remove Forbearance from all abilities that cause it or are affected by it.
Make a PvP talent where standing in Consecration reduces the duration of stuns by half. That way, if I’m guarding a node, I’d at least have a fighting chance to defend it.
Any other ideas?
-
The bubble defensives need some kind of meaningful effect while holding a flag. 50% damage reduction seems reasonable considering the flag is already a stacking debuff.
-
Healing needs to be significantly increased, or at the very least, a strong absorb shield needs to be added on top of the current weak heals for perhaps the same amount healed. Then half of it wouldn’t suffer from Mortal Strike effects, which are rampant.
-
Un-nerf and buff the damage reduction from Consecration.
-
Have Avenger’s Shield generate 1 Holy Power if it hits 3 or more targets.
-
For a little zyazz, put the old magic dispell Prot Wars used to have on their Shield Slam onto the main target of Shield of the Righteous.
If these changes were implemented I would probably come back to Prot Pal.
Prot Pal was a beast in BFA because it hard countered the caster Meta. It also had CC immunity while carrying the flag with Divine steed. So you could steed into the flag room grab and rogues couldn’t open on you and get outta there. Now you are with your team outside and moving.
Prot Pal has terrible weakness during stun and outside Cons. Again though you can steed to move from place to place with CC immunity to stop stun openers and then lay down Cons and be inside it to tank. (then we stacked mastery for mitigation)
This was a very good working mechanic for Prot Pal then actively allowed them to mitigate and plan for incoming damage. They just need it back. Period.
- with that said Prot War just got some juicy buffs next week they are gonna slap damage wise. Actually got PvP specific buffs as well. D stance also got buffed. So gonna stay there till they solve mechanics and gameplay with Prot Pal. For me to play Prot Pal again it’s not just a matter of buffs to talents.
the problem with this mindset is that many CLOTH casters have been and are
worse than any tank has ever been.
thats the issue with people who complain that tanks shoudnt be in pvp.
its OK when cloth casters do everythng better than a tank can, which includes quadrupling the tanks DPS.
but that ok, right?
whats the difference?
CLOTH CASTERS should NEVER be harder to kill than a tank, period.
yet they have been for decades.
the fact that devs let ANY CLASS other than healers heal is a joke.
Most CLOTH casters have access to
-super walls/defensives on short cds
-near infinite CC
-ultra mobility
-heals on par with healers-- many dont even need a healer in the comp
-and the most ergregious--------------------------
they get to have all of the above, while being able to DPS from range, safe from melees.
IMO all ranged casters shouod do less dps than a melee, as they are inherently safer and get free dps just because they are at range
tanks should have a role in pvp-- and that role is
very hard to kill
very low dps-- so not a threat
as a burster
but
have access to a lot of CC to disrupt-- just like CLOTH CASTER get.
Tanks should also have the WARHAMMER MMO function to be able to force an enemy player to drop their target and be forced to target the tank via taunt.
No classes excpet healers and hybrids should be able to heal-- period
Hybrids should be able to heal, but at a greatly reduced amount than a healer.
the fact that a class like warlocks/Spriests/Mages can keep themselves going without a healer is really poor class development.
Ill also throw rogues in there as they should have zero access to heals-- its kill fast or be killed
conversely healers shouldnt be able to provide meaningful dps at all.
the fact that disc and pres are close to a dps class is another terrible dev implementation.
if they are going to allow disc and pres to have meaninful dps while providing the best heals in the game, then they better let shockadin have a role-- but they always nerf holy when they are able to dps well.
I think you’re very much on the right track, but you’d have almost no complaints, if retribution was tuned and designed the way it should be. Ret is about as weak of an option as is available to play for BGs at the moment. I’d play it if it were not so.
Nice thing about blitz is both teams get a tank, isn’t like a normal bg where one team gets a tank and other gets two healers, so far on my guardian druid I haven’t found anyone being toxic towards me, when they’re angry they usually lash out at the entire team.
Guardian feels mad squishy but our stealth and mobility makes up for that ig, tanking rn definitely isn’t it if you wanna push super high rating, I don’t think there’s any tank spec over 2400 rn
Evoker, Evoker, Evoker. Til they fix this classs there is no reason for a tank. They float around the map like a god immune to any CC.
