I disagree with Mag over the second visual theme or route to take but I agree with the sentiment for BE Farstrider tattoos as a BE addition.
I also give credit where credits due and they’ve always defended Blood Elves, it was never their posts that pushed for Blood Elves to lose visual uniqueness with nothing to show for it in return.
Though I’m sure I used to argue with them when I did support HE options it is what it is, that’s in the past, what’s important for me isn’t that we continue to disagree on the route or existence of wanting a second visual theme for Blood Elves it’s that I value their stance on Blood Elves deserving exclusivity over additions to their main theme just like Void Elves will get I am sure.
Look, there’s getting similar stuff like new hair styles, scars etc. that’s fine. But then there’s copy pastaing each specific option to both races which I feel is a disservice to us and lazy.
Give each version their own take on the look, if you need say farstrider warpaint for both, use the same family of style but have each side get their own unique patterns. You can do similar hairstyles without being exactly the same.
I know that coming from ME lots of people won´t even see them -the downperk about being the Boogeyman you see-, but you guys will surely make them more visible.
And at the end what´s more important is to put those images in the knowledge of the dev team. Upvotes will be required for that, so…
Cues my journey to search and look for images that can visually explain how easy it would be to make the “exclusive” art features different between Belves and Velves. Heck, I went as far as to point the Helfers WHERE should they look for inspiration (Celtic and triskelion, anyone?) too while at it.
Farstriders “Tattoos” ala Alleria on my Belf would be ignored by me, and I´m tired of getting stuff that gets ruined one way or another for me to be used. Ion already ruined forme the eye colors with hiw remarks, I don´t need more visuals that reminds me of an NPC I despise just because Blizz feels like being extra lazy, tyvm.
I always approach this differently now of days because for Blood Elves I want stuff like San’layn customizations, red eyes and orange eyes and hair colors like pink, burgundy, etc. for Void Elves I want void specific customizations like glowy skintones, N’Zoth eyes and hair colors like pink, green, etc. and for both since it’s something others want but I don’t care for or want personally tattoos, scars, braids, etc.
Possibly, I’m just saying knowing blizzard this suggestion “give one half to BE and other to VE” would most likely result in both getting all/shared few.
Heck, Belves can get something similar to: mandalas, the geometric figures that act like rune patterns, phoenixes, suns, flowers, leaves and feathers as the henna stuff I consulted pointed to. The places the “tattoos” appear can be different (more emphasis on the chest on the Velves maybe while the Belves get emphasis on the arms on a simetrical way like Rommath, on the forehead for Belves while Velves get more stuff below the eyes on the cheeks, etc.)
There ARE ways. We just need to be more clear and concrete with the dev team regarding a firm NO in the case they just want to cheaply copy/paste stuff and leave it at that but with a limited color avalability to add insult to injury.
And what I’m saying is that I’m not a fan of that idea because I feel like it’d end up with both sharing half of the options, and that I feel like they both need their own flavor rather than carbon copying each other for that look.
I’d hope in the shorter term they’d concentrate on new void stuff and putting options for void into stuff that lacks it, and giving back Blood elves some sense of uniqueness and their own exclusive feel.
Very true, I was just illustrating as well that even with very similar options you can still make each side have different takes on that look.
I´ve spent a month working on this. I really really don´t want to get Alleria hand-me-downs but just in red, yellow and green cause God forbids we hold the art dev team on a higher standard I´m quite sure they can perfectly fulfill.
At the most Izzabelle´s mockups could be the “shared” stuff, and only because some of those options were celtic in origin -though they became Orc stuff in WoW´s SL pass, so… /ROFL)
Excellent!! You are a MVP.
Sometimes it is necessary tbqh.
Tell me about it, they deploy only “jewerly” for fembelves and omit putting on the Bhindi they put on the early “Blood Mage” official art?
Yes I understand. Given the precedent I’m just saying it may not work out that way. Hence Ariel’s approach.
This most likely will happen. And Blood Elves have so many ways to attain uniqueness, just not in the “High Elf” department is all I’m saying. The same goes for Void Elves.
Fair enough. I really think of it more for stuff like hairstyles and scars, but tattoos are easier to find a single image with a bunch of options in it.
My man, the amount of images I´ve tried to post in the Belf thread regarding scars, tattoos, runes, etc. is not small If I shamelessly say so myself. i even posted images of irl scarifications -with the due warning regarding gore cause they ARE gory-.
The posters making the compilation for us in here (Drede, Balesong) are a Godsend precisely because of that.
i dont get what they hope to prove with this tbh. even the dev who strictly works on creating art assets speaks of ‘high elves’ in the past tense. that there WAS a race in the game and no where does he even claim blood elves arent high elves(was is always used to refer to something in the past fyi for those who might not know)
The main problem I have with this is that that’s what blood elves are in essence, and while I know there’s a ton of requests for ARs and other options. There’s just nothing to me that screams out obvious next place to go for blood elves to give them an additional theme. Just like nothing in the story going “HERE! This is where blood elves can go to get a dramatic change in appearance that flows naturally out of the story so far”
Basically it seems to me to be a problem created by giving void elves that extra theme. When it was just void you could just keep adding blood elf stuff, but now that’s shared and it feels like people are now searching for a new option to bring back some of the uniqueness they lost and it’s more about finding new options than necessarily out of story points people think should be expanded on (not for everyone of course)
I just expected them to rank higher considering VEs were allowed special treatment to be worked on during “core race” time and that resulted in the loss of visual uniqueness / why BEs feel so shafted now.
If VEs just received void exclusive stuff that’d be a different, but they skipped the line and BEs lost visual uniqueness in the process.
I’ll probably take a look at that one if I can find it
