Why so many flags?

“Come on bro, let’s take this outside.”

Is a taunt.

“Let’s talk about all these flags.”

Is a request to speak about a subject. Unless every thread saying “Let’s talk about…” is a taunt I don’t understand how this could be seen as one. “Why so many flags?” and then a question about them is not in any way a taunt.

If flags are downvotes and hearts are upvotes, I want this pushed up for an answer

Because people are using multiple accounts or alt hopping and often fighting themselves or abusing multiple accounts to just mass report people who disagree with them. its been a topic for a long time and a problem as well.

I’d say a taunt is in the eye of the beholder. Same way people perceive insults even when someone hasn’t used a classical slur or whatever.

At the end of the day, GD is gonna do GD things. Talking about flagging is gonna get you flagged. It’s like painting a giant bullseye on your butt.

I don’t under stand why all forum accounts aren’t linked to begin with

It should.

When a post is flagged to the point of being hidden, I believe it only gets reviewed by a living moderator if the poster appeals it. If there wasn’t anything against the TOS in it, it gets restored.

When that happens, I think it would be useful if a ‘mark’ was placed on the accounts of everyone that flagged it in the first place. If (when) those posters accrue enough marks, they should receive a warning…and if their history shows a pattern of ‘flag abuse’, they should get a vacation. Perhaps then, using the flag as a down-vote will cease.

Also vulgar or offensive doesn’t JUST refer to profanity, certain subjects, no matter how they’re presented, can be considered off limits by a lot of people by default.

Like our vulgarities, did you know many of our 4 letter swear words are French? Guess who is literally going to be saying our swear words in some sentences by default?

Yet we, the English speaking portion of the US and even some parts of UK England… have all agreed these are vulgarities.

And there is a FASCINATING history behind this fact steeped in bloodshed and ethnic conquest over numerous generations.

In my estimation this really means there is no such thing as false flagging or flag abuse, so people should never complain about it from any angle, and we should just treat it like the wild west.

All bets are off folks. Load up your six-shooters of alts!

So if someone posts about an item I don’t have in the game I can feel taunted by that and flag away?

Someone posted about mtn dew promos today guys. I dropped a frozen bottle of mtn dew on my foot today. Why are they taunting meh?

I agree to an extent as people should be held responsible for their actions but if there’s no proper moderation I would receive a mark for this thread, for example. It don’t seem fair to accrue marks just by someone else’s definition of trolling

We really do be living in the lawless west of the Internet age again. Yeehaw! :cowboy_hat_face:

If the methodology I described is used, the marks would only be applied if their use of the flag was determined to be unwarranted by a moderator…not the forum-going public.

Oh I totally understand it and this is what my first post literally describes lol.

Might as well fight the wind trying to change it but it’s still fun to talk about imo.

I don’t know if it’s related or not but who are the people with green or orange texts, is that their role?

Blizzard cultivates false reporting / false-flagging in game and in the forums. Blizz harbours this behaviour and embraces it as a trait of their target demographic.

Also… as an aside, many topics here are off topic, the GD is for discussion of WoW as we play it, we do have a separate forum for off topics like TV and comics. So some of them may just be getting flagged for reasons like that, or ones that belong in CS customer service forums.

Why defend your company or practices when you have people paying you to do it already?

OP asks why stuff is being flagged.

Everyone flags the OP.

I don’t even have words. :expressionless:

I don’t believe so. They are simply posters that have been deemed as generally friendly and helpful…meaning, they’ve received a gold star for good behavior. They don’t have any authority over the rest of us.
