The point of the game is for everything to take forever. Either accept it and play or don’t. Age and life situation play no role in one’s ability to enjoy a grind.
I won’t clear naxx for years. But not for a lack of time. Because I have no interest in rushing through so I can play a different game.
The point is that the realm count is plenty enough. They can just add more layers to each realm if needed, and when the population dies down to it’s smoldering core, they will merge layers together as needed. This will keep player density high enough to still get stuff done, rather than having people stuck on a bunch of dead servers where there are barely even two 40 man raids going during prime time.
After 3/4 of players get sick of leveling by even 30, classic is not going to be as populated as you think it will be.
You only received rank 4, so you played Vanilla, but I doubt you actually played
Despite the fact you played when you (most likely were in middle school/high school), you clearly did not experience much content given your low pvp rank (easily earned on private servers with minimal pvp time, despite the same system + more players in the pool to compete with).
On top of all that, your posts indicate that you don’t appear to know much about the game.
The only reason I point this out is because I think the active community on the forums gets tired of your constant shenanigans… You complain about people using scare tactics, but then you go full blackpill saying that there will be a low turnout/the game won’t be popular, and I can’t fathom why.
So congratz, you played, but I doubt you made it that far, thus I’m not really sure you have the right to talk about a game you merely dabbled in (according to your low standing pvp rank which is a huge indicator).
But server transfers are automated now. People could reroll or xfer. Probably the most popular servers would not have room for xfers, but still other servers could.
It’s simple really. That’s how the game was designed. That’s how things were done at the time, except transfers needed an actual CM to monitor them, and they often bugged out, needing more CM attention and work.
Has Blizzard even discussed transfer rules and restrictions? Would there be penalties to pvp ranks? I recall the gold cap was lower for xfers back then, but don’t recall what it was.
Everyone just saying 'dead servers are bad" is just mimicking Blizzard without delving more into the issue and associated issues.
Pure speculation, but I think it’s probably a correct observation. Graphics aren’t everything and the original wow is almost almost divinely inspired. It was designed by sick fascist designers that didn’t believe in welfare gaming. Classic is all about everything Bfa isn’t.
Don’t retail boy me… I was in the original closed beta, had over 150 days /played during vanilla, cleared all of the content including naxx, did the pvp grind several times(stopped at R11 on this hunter though because he was already in T3), did the hunter epic bow/staff/quiver quest, etc etc, all during actual vanilla and not on private servers or during later expansions. Can you say the same? No, so sit down and be quiet…
And yes, I do play retail because I’ve been playing the game for 15 years… Nice try at insulting though.
Nah it’s going to be even more dead than people think, like 75-80% of the player base consists of tourists, they’ll drop out in a few weeks to a few months I’m sure, the queue will be gone and this won’t be an issue anymore.
I’d say the private server players and those that want to experience content they didn’t do the first time round in vanilla will probably be the majority. Remember there’s nothing to do outside of instanced pvp/raid/dungeons to do, so if that’s all you did in retail well have fun only grinding rep.
They are not behaving like tourists. Tourists don’t sit in queues for hours or invest a day of playing in the first week.
You may be right and there may be a drop off, but I don’t think it is due to “tourism”. If there is a drop off, it will be because people stop enjoying the game or something better comes along.
So far, pack wisdom has been totally off. No one is 60 yet, let alone clearing MC in the first week. Demand is stronger than anyone anticipated. and there are still 6000 player queues at peak times on most servers.
Repeating this tourism nonsense in the face of so much evidence to the contrary is madness.
People paid 15$ to resub because they’ve either been waiting for classic or they saw their favorite streamer overhype it, if you want to play it you’re going to sit in queue for as long as possible no matter who you are. Doesn’t matter if you’r a long term player or someone that quits in a few weeks, your logic isn’t sound. People log in hours before they get off work or other ways so when they have free time to play they can or at least have a chance to. You can remote log into your computer or get someone else to do it for you etc. I don’t have a clue as to why you think it’s strictly private server players or hardcore players that only want to play classic.
Also yes tourists, participation reward players, lfr player w/e you want to call them, they will drop off in a few weeks to a few months. I don’t care how they play or what they play but thinking going back to the raid or die mentality when gearing is concerned, nothing to do outside of raids/dungeons or bgs like world quests/warfronts/pet battling, not being able to solo the majority of the stuff, more time consuming than live and at least for those players taking a lot longer to acquire gear compared to doing 30 minutes of world quests and warfronts and getting a full set of gear. I don’t see them staying for long, there will be exceptions but the majority will either stay on retail, rage quit because of queues or because the game in general whether that’s from the time sink/difficulty of things etc.
Just skim through forums, people whining about every little thing because they were coddled by BFA. Wanting faster movement speed added, just wait til everyones 60 if they even last that long, probably want welfare gear, world quests and other crap content added because they don’t have the time/skill or even capable of getting into the content available to them.
