You guys are sure making a lot of headway with this conversation. Just 7 more back-and-forth exchanges like this and the other guy will concede that he was wrong and you were right all alongâŠ
If anyone stops paying they lose access.
But these players paying already for BFA get free classic access with their sub. When they get bored they can play classic and Blizz still get their DAU/MAU from these players.
Ignoring, for a moment, the riveting debate between you and Studmuffyn on just how âfreeâ it is for BfA players compared to those who will only do Classic, why would you leave a game that you enjoy because of this free/not-free issue? Is this a matter of principle? Does that override the enjoyment you get out of playing, just irk you and needle you and you walk away from Omelas because itâs a moral stand you must take or not be able to look yourself in the mirror?
Iâm guessing if you are in fact enjoying yourself in Classic, you will forget all about the freeloaders who also play BfA on the side and just keep playing. If you wind up leaving, it will have nothing to do with the freeloaders and everything to do with the fact that youâre really not enjoying yourself as much as you thought you would when you engaged in the Vanilla nostalgia.
I mean I wonât continue paying a sub if Iâve gotten to level 60 on the characters I wanted to play. Static gameâŠonce Iâve gotten to 60 on all the toons Iâm done.
I also play ESO and pay a sub. But with that sub comes new content âŠa reason to keep paying and playing.
Oh okay, gotcha. It will take a while, then. Maybe a few years. Maybe a decade.
Then youâll take a break, maybe Blizzard learns a thing or two in the Classic project and implements some of those ideas in retail, and youâll sign in to try it out again. So, at a minimum, theyâre buying some time to get you back for good, and if the hook is new content then maybe theyâll start a BC project, then a Wrath project, and so onâŠ
I was thinking about this stasis, actually. A few years from now when people like yourself have a dozen or so alts to 60 and have accumulated wealth and a rhythm of raiding or PvP or whatever, a side-show will keep you. Something like the add-on community will provide a 3rd party enhancement to the Classic game and keep you hooked. Seasons, achievements, a âyou canât possibly pull off downing that raid boss with a group full of nothing but priestsâ followed by a âhold my beerâ moment and a youtube video.
I think you might be surprised what might keep you in game after it becomes âstaticâ in the way youâre saying.
People underestimate the draw and inertia of the sunk-cost fallacy. Just today I dropped blacksmithing on my main and picked up herbalism. It hurt more than Iâd like to admitâŠ
Didnât this pointless go no where topic already get locked once?
Look itâs pretty much in the same place as the last locked topic.
Funny OP felt strongly enough to make this topic and then bowed out for some other poster to defend their ideas? LOL
Nope. Nothing funny there at all.
Give it up BW.
This thread is going the same place as the last one.
This topic was locked and at this point this is just spam.
Ignore. Flag with multiple alts. Move on.
Why would I want to play legion when I left it last year because it wasnât fun anymore ? What changed in Legion that would make me want to play it again ? IMHO itâs worse now with the changes they made to the weapon. That entire release was based on your weapon.
