Why Shadowlands Loot Scarcity System Won't Work

Would you be enjoying yourself more if they brought back the 3 Chesting System M+ had in Legion, increasing the number of items that can drop to 3 if you beat a Dungeon within the 3 Chest limit while also awarding more Anima?

In regards to raids… well those should just be flat out increased or at the very least bonus rolls should be brought back.

Honestly, now would have been the perfect time to bring back a currency system for PvE. People who are against it always seem to only remember half of it, the slow pace at which you gained the higher currency, and only getting a new piece very slowly if you were more casual. They seem to omit the other side of the system, justice points which allowed you to get a good set of starter gear.

The PvE currency system was very much like the current honor/conquest system in how quickly you could earn each type. I say bring back that kind of system, allow you to set a goal, work towards that goal, and allow us to do the same thing as PvP gear, upgrade it, so even after you have obtained a full starter set, you can still use the currency to upgrade it, and eventually maybe even lead into using the higher currency to upgrade it past a certain point.

I don’t mind the loot pinata personally but some people got offended by it for whatever reason, even though it never really effected them to begin with.

I can say though grinding out the last season for keystone master - it did get a bit frustrating when pugging and people who should know what they are doing at their ilvl, really don’t, but I do think this was more a failure on blizzard’s part than it was on the loot

What do people expect when a game is owned by Activision Blizzard whose sole objective is to satisfy their shareholders. It’s all about the MAU and player engagement metrics, which in turn water down game play to achieve this.

Look at how Legendary’s work and the cost and time needed, it’s beyond silly. Same with memories, some people can go and get theirs from a dungeon while other are forced to raid for their. And since mine comes from a raid I’m left out in mythic + and then I’m behind in gear due to me not starting from the start of the expansion.

I’m all for loot being harder to come by, but this isn’t classic, and unless like the OP said that raids stay relevant this isn’t going to work. I could go on and on about class balance, covenants, anima, boregast etc, but I’m done with this expansion unless a lot of things change, including leadership of WoW.

This is what happens when there’s a top-down view of the playerbase that is resentful, basically. They don’t like their players, they see them as an unruly, angry, exploiting rabble that isn’t properly grateful for their hard work, who make things difficult for them. Every design decision seems to be made with the thought of “How much can we take away from them and not have them all quit?” People having fun is resented, fussy little “principle of it” rules on toys, transmog, fast transportation, lockouts, timegating and loot make that clear.

I figure it’s a mindset that is common to a lot of groups that see the worst in the people that they’re providing a service to all the time and take the negative feedback that they get too personally. It’s a mindset that needs to be actively fought against in a company’s management structure, and if it’s being encouraged instead and you’re getting it even from the top and most central people in the company, what you get is…this, basically.

I haven’t tanked since wrath and only started running prot in Torghast for the interrupts, but those tank legendaries were the first to drop for me. Still don’t have the one from ToP, but I’m set if I ever tank again lol.

This hurts my soul to read. I think my character is just broken or something.
I have done LFR since it has been up no lego drop from there, one of my friends even leveled a warrior because he wanted to play arms has no desire to tank, got Thunderlord literally 30 minutes after hitting 60.
Why do you curse me this way blizzard.

In all of this I jest, i love the game and am going to continue playing it just means 1 more day of farming, and today is the day!.
so was yesterday… and the day before that…

If the PvP reward system wasn’t so generous, you’d have a lot more angry people.

It’s hiding how awful the PvE system really is.

I wouldn’t say it’s “Generous”, more so it’s much more well designed than the PvE Loot Systems.

People that play the game basically 24/7 complain about loot scarcity, imagine being a person that can only play a couple hours a day or less, they aren’t getting anywhere.

I can’t speak for anyone but myself but I know personally I am also taking casual players (which make up the bulk of the player base) into account with this.

The expansions core features and systems are great but things like this are going to cost us a lot of players, both hardcore and casual.

Right now 1/7 10 am PST in NA there 6 WQ to give anima.
3x105 1x70 and 2x35 anima.

with travel time they take about 10-15 mins each, an hour to an hour and a half to get 455 anima.

I Just can’t get inspired to do it. in 16 years i have never felt this way so early into an expansion, i was feeling this 1 week 2 weeks in.

I don’t even really bother to do too much content outside of 3 heroic bosses a week and a M+ dungeon because I don’t wanna really waste my efforts for something that won’t give me loot. Great vault is one of the only things bringing me gear and I do not like that. Bring back stuff like valor points please.

Loot scarcity is such a weird term. We get almost normal raid level loot for completing the covenant campaign. We get normal raid level loot for doing unrated pvp.

M+ spamming is no longer a great way to get gear, but were “casuals” really running M+ over and over again for end-of-dungeon loot? Like, the only people I know doing that are playing this game for 6+ hours a day.

It’s not hard to get loot right now if you’re willing to do multiple types of content. If you’re only willing to do M+, you’re going to be slower to finishing and that’s fine.

Holy cats! I never knew that was a thing, but yes, that’s exactly it.

Surprised we haven’t heard anything from Blizzard on this with all of the topics that were going around about it and people quitting…

M+ nerf would have been fine if they nerfed the items dropped OR reducted the gear level that dropped. They did both, so you’re getting crappier gear and less often.

It’s miserable.

except that 190 just now started dropping for covenants on top of the hefty anima cost to upgrade all that gear to 190.

And we’re still very early in the tier. Next week honor gear will go up to 197.

If you want to link an armory for a character that’s been trying to get gear but hasn’t been getting unlucky, feel free. Everyone I see online doing content is getting gear, but if someone wants to prove me wrong, feel free.
