What Would Actually Reduce RMT:

Aggressive and Consistent Bot Bans:

• Ban waves need to be frequent and relentless. Botters should lose accounts faster than they can create them.

Account Creation Limits and Verification:

• Introduce stricter account creation procedures to prevent mass account farming.

Gold Transaction Monitoring:

• Implement automatic tracking of suspicious gold transfers between accounts and flag/break up laundering chains.

Create New Gold Sinks:

• Introduce more gold sinks that encourage legitimate players to spend excess gold, reducing its overall value and limiting demand.

Target the Buyers:

• Punish players who purchase gold harshly to reduce demand directly. Without buyers, sellers have no market.

These are great ideas but blizzard won’t do it because of money. The only real solution is to apply these solutions to a single, regulated server. When you ban the offenders, ban them from the regulated server only, allowing them to still keep their subscription to blizzard by playing on other less regulated servers. Blizz needs the subs, so I think this is the only thing that would actually work. Separate the cheaters from the people who just want to enjoy a game that they love.
