If I made 100k 20 years ago and just held on to it. It wouldn’t be worth nearly as much today as it did back then.
And that’s only getting worse as time goes on.
I Saved 6 dollars on a lvl boost 
New mount, boost, pets, etc etc. I would be buying it anyways but the incentives I get now are worth whatever trivial interest I would have earned on that money just sitting around for another year.
But I get it, if $70 is worth more to your bottom line right now, by all means, dont drop it on a video game.
For me it’s just a matter of, it will cost me money either now or later and I just want to get it over with. I always pre order.
I pre-ordered (now) because it included Dragonflight, which I didn’t bother getting.
I pre-ordered (in general) because it looks like Bliz has finally accepted the importance of flying, to the point that they were not stupidly vague about how it will be handled in the next expansion.
This is the first expansion that I have purchased since MoP. The flight was enough to sell it to me… the Delves sound like a great feature, but that is TBD… all the other perks were gravy.
