Do not insert sweaty armpits into mouth
Thatâs also what itâs about. Itâs about staying alive. Sometimes, it;s pretty rewarding to escape from a bad situation, knowing that the other players had you and they failed ;). Also the reverse, if you see someone else in a worse spot than you (could be just something like a mage just blinked and you are near), TAKE advantage of it . Itâs that simple
I donât say carebear.
Itâs like living a sheltered life, Safe space only when it benefits you, or whatever else.
Meh. Do what you like but donât lie to yourself. Well you can if you want.
The best way to explain is that youâre either a sheep, a wolf, or sheep dog. Itâs not that hard to understand.
Win or lose I am happy if I take a few out.
Makes for a salty afternoon snack. Like saltines but with the minty refreshness of week old deordorant.
Nothing in life is black and white. I love playing competitive shooters. I donât like playing on pvp servers. I play wow for the pve. I play counterstrike and battlefield for the pvp. Itâs not that hard to understand.
This is a true frequent occurnce, but not everyoneâs dishonorable. Hard to believe, I will actually often wait for people to get full health first. It doesnât give me any satisfaction knowing I didnât win for reasons other than I outplayed someone. Not to mention I hate it when that **** is done to me.
Yes, you will die and be camped a lot. Lotta reasons people do it, if I do it itâs only because Iâm trying to get you to log onto your main or call someone for help. Some of my favorite players to kill though are the ones who do kill lowbies for no reason, you can tell who these players are because as soon as you show up they run. Those people I will camp mercilessly.
Iâm not quite sure what you mean by this. If thereâs a big group then all youâre really gonna do is kill off a player maybe two before you die.
Well, when dealing with people, you really canât control what they do. All you can do is hold yourself to your standards and hope theyâre gonna be honorable too. Countless times Iâve tried to be respectful and my target has no care in the worldâŚI like camping those people too.
I like the freedom to kill whoever want and I enjoy having to be aware of my surroundings. If all I have to worry about is a aggroing a mob Iâd think that to be pretty boring.
In theory, playing on a PvP server introduces a random element that breaks up the predictable nature of scripted PvE content.
In practice, PvP servers become exactly what you described.
The biggest draw for me on a PVP server is that thereâs no way out. Youâre plodding along doing your thing, maybe mining or herbing and bang! Maybe you get jumped by 3-4 people on their way to a dungeon. So they have a few minutes to waste waiting on that fifth guy, unlucky you. So instead of chatting up the zone to see if anyone can help, you have the option of turning your flag off and waiting to res. Now you res unflagged and thatâs the end of it.
To me thatâs the first step on the road that lead to what retail is now. Instead of engaging your fellow players for aid and making a multi-player event out of it, now thereâs no interaction.
Thereâs also the consideration for resources. Maybe your guild needs fire resist pots for MC tomorrow and you need to farm them up as quickly as you can. You unflag and go about it. On a PVP server, you will always fight over resources. I had some epic battles in the Burning Stepps with people trying to run the same Thorium circuit.
Itâs a 50/50 with pvp servers, you can find a pvp server with a good community, where you will experience amazing world battles and rivalty between players of each faction⌠or find a server where kids just discovered rogues.
Dont let them fool you.
What they call PvP is just ganking.
Because I want to experience the whole game, not half of it.
Also in my experience from an alt on an RP realm, the people that perma-flag are usually douchebags. They like to make forum posts about how badass they are that theyâre going âperma-flag!â. What they leave out is that theyâre usually members of a higher end raiding guild and always have backup, and have much better gear than the majority of the server. Yes, youâre so brave. Eyeroll
And while they may not be everyone that flags up, just in my experience it was a majority.
All great feedback and I appreciate everyone posting. Only comment I will put forward at the moment is even on pve servers there is a lot of faction pride and these gaint battles that come from a person being killed whether they started the fight or not break out the same way. One person dies and they call in more people then the other people do and big battles break out.
Yes sometimes a person will just wait to unflag and leave but not everyone is always in the mood to start up a big fight or has friends ready or willing at the time.
Again I am hearing a lot of great posts and experiences/ the âfeelsâ of being on a pvp server. Thanks everyone, I love reading these.
Edit: These battles may not break out as often as pvp servers I dont know, but they happen many times a day at several different locations.
When I first came to a pvp server I didnât notice much difference between my old pve and the new pvp server. Later in strangle thorn I encountered a hostile enemy player for the first time who ganked me. It immediately changed my perspective of the game forever. I was absolutely hooked.
No longer did I just have to stay on the road while exploring this dangerous, beautiful world, but now there was things running around more dangerous than tigers and lions. Every action became more meaningful from that moment on because of the element of danger presented by a pvp server.
The Wow was designed with a 2 faction war as its core concept. The best place to really get a feel for it other than playing warcraft 1-3 is in the novels.
I recommend reading Rise of the Horde by Christie Golden followed by Beyond the Dark Portal by Aarron Rosenberg, and Lord of the Clans also by Golden.
Those 3 novels will have you steeped in the lore, and will give you a full understanding of why this game is best played on a pvp server. Imo there shouldnât be any other option than pvp.
Fighting an NPC doesnât give you that adrenaline rush that fighting another player does. There is no sense of challenge entering a contested zone knowing that you canât be attacked, or attack, another player.
PvP makes the mundane more fun.
WARcraft.
Thatâs why.
Thinly veiled âwhy does someone like something I donât like?!â Thread
Thatâs because they are.
They are filled with people whoâs only goal in life is to get their fun by ruining the fun of others. Ganking, quest giver camping, etc.
Itâs what they live for. Itâs also why most PvP servers are completely imbalanced to one side or the other, people donât want a fair fight, they want to be on the more populated faction so they can ruin other playersâ fun without much fear of reprisal.
Save yourself the grief and play on a PvE or RP server.
Ganking? How is killing vermin ganking?
To be suited for play on a PVP server, you have to appreciate that the enemy faction is really your mortal enemy. You may choose to let a lower level player live, or you may not - neither behavior is dishonorable. It is your choice. Gaining advantage by waiting until an enemy is exhausted is not dishonorable, it is smart.
