There lies the problem. Multi boxers have multiple accounts so they can have multiple characters online at the same time. You can’t do that with a single account. Therefore each account, theoretically, would be able to cast a vote which would give multi boxers a great voice compared to a single account holder.
A reliable poll is done by actual researchers who directly contact random respondents chosen from samples provided by Blizzard, which has the capability of sorting out different demographics by playstyle.
Any self-selected poll is useless for data purposes.
Wait like the mount survey includes other questions as well? Like where’s this survey from?
You’d think, Blizzard with all of it’s data, would be able to behaviorally ID cloak levels.
Regarding this:
This actually makes sense, given it’s BIS and relatively easy to get. I wouldn’t take this as an indicator of how much people like it, more that it’s required to get to be included in basic things in the game. That alone would force a high adoption.
Internet polls are only unreliable when they’re poorly sampled, or the questions are based off of recall / heavily biased. Also bad when they rely too heavily on weighting (hence my joke).
Also bad when they’re read too far into (ex above).
They had the data and could have released it. A lot of people hated the content who had tried it. People who came back to check out the hype after a break were already letting their subs run out. So few people had actually done it that they created a video explaining how to get the cloak, and promoted the video on the launcher.
So no. It is not credible that 87% of all players had the cloak on all their alts and had it leveled up to that point.
Honestly, still not understanding where the data are coming from here so it’s hard for me to actually come to a conclusion on it.
That said, I agree with your point on opt-in sampling is pretty difficult to use.
It wouldn’t be in their face, and it wouldn’t force anyone to take said poll. It could very well have a place in the wow store tab.
Then they would be even more useless.
why, by making them optional?
What happens when the anti Blizzard strike force on GD realize they’re a minority?
That’s not how blizzard has ever done anything or ever will. They listen to certain extent but pretty much what they give us is it, like or don’t pay.
Game design is not, nor will it ever, be a democracy. Game design by ‘popular vote’ is terrible.
They would be useless because unless everyone participates they wouldn’t have an accurate count. Without accurate data they are useless.
If you want to give feedback about something the forums and twitter are enough.
You’re correct. It’s a business. It’s in the best interest of the business to see if players do or don’t want certain systems, changes, content, etc. It’s only proper that a business makes sure that their customers are content with the product, and if not, what they’d like to see in said product.
That’s why the “Free Pet” or explaining the urgency of the poll is important.
The forums? And you’re concerned about biased information? Are you unfamiliar with the Flight Fiasco of Draenor, where this forum was filled to the brim with people demanding flight in draenor?
Also, no to twitter. I don’t touch twitter.
I never once said anything about biased information. The data from any in game poll that was not forced would be incomplete. Any poll that offered any kind of reward for answering would be have data that couldn’t be trusted.
The only influence players should have on the game is through their feedback. There are too many players in this game for them to ‘listen’ to what everyone wants.
Most people won’t read it, click the first option to get it off the screen.
Like all quests.
How’s that pro-blizzard strike force working out for you?
Polls can’t be forced. That is unreliable. Surveys are done from random samples of subscribers by independent researchers.
The big problem is getting people to take the poll seriously and not just trying to click through it so they can get back to playing the game.
The beta and the forums are the tools people can use to show if they support or don’t support ideas.
Game designers are hired because somebody believed that they knew what they were doing. Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t.
Having a job where your every move and decision is decided by a panel of anonymous people who have zero insight into behind the scenes conversations that are happening is straight up toxic and from a real-world perspective absolutely nobody would take that job.
Because the game is not design by democracy.
Because it never ends well when you let the inmates run the asylum
Because I don’t need one more thing popping up in the game and ruining my immersion!
Customer: I ordered a pizza, this is covered in mold.
Store owner: What, you got a problem with it?
Customer: Yes, there’s mold on my Pizza-
Store owner: Deal with it. You get what you get.
Customer: Wait, what? But the quality of the product is low!
Store owner: I don’t care.
Customer: Sir, this is bad for your business. Think for a moment.
Store owner: Make me.
Customer: As a paying customer, I’m trying to explain what you can do to make the pizza better!
Store owner: Thanks for the input but no.
Customer: Fine, then I’m not going to purchase the product knowing what to expect.
Store owner: Fine.
Store owner continued to ignore customer feedback. He can’t pay the bills to keep his business open because people warned others about his low quality food. He has fashioned a blanket out of pizza dough, which is mouldy.
SURE THING
I like how you equate wow players with convicted rapists and criminals.
ONCE A MONTH.
I wonder what % of the population multi boxers are of the total wow population. 1,2,3?
Been playing since vanilla and ive seen a mb once. Once.
People qct like they are widespread pandemic.
