Why is blizzard abandoning RP players who dont want world PVP.

I suppose with the big push for open world Ashenvale pvp they’re trying to press people into pvp servers…but come on blizz, would it really kill you to have a 5th server? you’d still have more pvp servers

Honestly, because the outcry for rp-pvp servers was far more outspoken. I have seen little to no community requests up until now for rp normal servers. There were 5-6 posts a day over the past month for rp-pvp servers though.

They’ve always had at least one. Why would we outcry for it when they’ve never not done it?

Currently there are 3 PVP realms for Season of Discovery and 1 PVE realm.
Thats not balanced at all.

Honestly I’ll probably just end up rping anyway on the pve server. If people take issue with that they can take it up with blizz for not making one

Give it time, this is just the beginning… there should be more to come. Wait for it…
Launch day is an important day. Even if an rp-pve server were added later, if they delay it too long it’ll be too late. Characters and guilds will already be established and no one will want to leave their server and have to start over from scratch, especially with something like season of discovery where important runes and such will require investment to find and/or grind

An argument could be made that there’s 3x more pvpers than those abstaining from such.
Granted in retail pvp is dying, but it’s quite a bit more popular on era.
I was hoping for an experience like I had on an rp realm when Classic first launched. The community was great and people were so friendly. They even formed lines for quest mobs, there was trick or treating at Halloween with quiz questions, and so much more.
It was the wow community experience that I had heard about but never gotten to experience.
Now it seems like no RP-PVE realm and getting a chance to experience that again seems very bleak.

Facts are, there are not enough RP-PvErs to justify an RP-PvE realm. Full stop.
You can actually see that even in the player-made polling done recently on these very forums: Updated SoD poll + fantabulous data charts
And sure, that polling didn’t ask people if they wanted just a normal RP server, but ignore that for a second and look at the numbers. 21% say they’ll play PvE. 21% say they’ll play RP-PvP. 50% say they’ll play PvP. 8% are undecided.
Even if that entire undecided 8% wanted an RP realm (obviously not all of them do) it would not be worth it for Blizzard to spin one up.
Bloodsail Buccaneer was not a successful server back in Classic 2019. Not by Blizzard’s standards. That’s just the sad truth.
If even player-made polling is showing, factually, that the interest in a normal RP server simply isn’t there in large enough numbers to justify it, one can imagine what Blizzard’s own internal data is telling them.
I know it’s not what anyone in this thread wants to hear, but sometimes the truth hurts. And the truth is, RP-PvE is not popular enough to justify its own server in Season of Discovery.
The only reason RP-PvP is popular enough to justify its own server is because RP-PvP is synonymous with awesome WPvP and Blizzard killed WPvP in retail like a decade ago. SoD promises to have awesome WPvP so all the RP-PvPers Blizz chased away from retail are coming out of the woodworks again, just like they did for Grobb back in 2019.

I can’t see the point of making an RP-PVP server and not a PVE one. Or to take another track if you are going to have 3 PVP servers you should probably plan on at least 2 PVE.
Hardcore which has what I’d call a limited reach supports two PVE servers as it is. I mean yes I currently play HC, but I know a lot of people that view losing their characters at death the same as they view PVP. While I’d say there is also another group that would gladly PVP in an area like Ashenvale, but not play on a PVP server.
So it seems somewhat straange, but I guess we’ll see.
edit Oh and I saw in another thread the PVE server is West Coast? Just plain PVE needs West/East without even getting into RP.

In some sense, since it’s an mmoRPg, all servers are RP servers.
Or everyone can just chill out. Wowhead jumped the gun… shocker I know.
All 4 servers are now listed as rp-pvp.

100% This, they gutted pvp servers in BFA and in legion they broke the world defense alerts. They ruined wpvp in retail so most of us quit. Thankfully this gives the og pvpers that enjoyed rivalries or helping guild mates being ganked a home and sandbox to play in.
Still listed as normal, pvp, pvp, and rppvp for me
