Everybody keeps saying this, but the barber shop is basically a surgeon as well. Barbers don’t do face and skin color changes.

Just wanna point out that a Barber was a doctor in the middle ages there was no such thing as a wise women and what not that ppl see in fantasy
The barber surgeon , one of the most common European medical practitioners of the Middle Ages, was generally charged with caring for soldiers during and after battle. In this era, surgery was seldom conducted by physicians, but instead by barbers who, possessing razors and coordination indispensable to their trade, were called upon for numerous tasks ranging from cutting hair to amputating limbs.
I already race changed my alt monk to a male just need a female now 
I support your thread. They should allow sex changes for a hefty price of gold imo. If the barbers can already do face changes and skin color changes, why not allow them to do gender changes as well?

Because it would really really hurt? I for one, would not let my barber go wild with scissors down there.

I particually like the Vulpera female stealth and swing animations. At least with my current mog, the animations look like buttery smooth savagery.
Some people saying “barbers are not surgeons” need to look up the history of barbers.

Back in 1875 a hacksaw and a dirty towel might have qualified you for the town surgeon… just not one I’d care to visit.

OSRS has a witch that can do it for you… If I remember correctly…
With all the weird Voodoo stuff in the game, I bet we can find some spells and blood circles to make this happen…
This may sound good for Alliance but not so much for the Horde, at least not to me.
Don’t know about you but i don’t want a goblin snipping things off and or moving things around while i’m unconscious, might wake up with ticking noises coming from odd places.
But for real it’s like others have said, if they can get you to pay for it don’t count on them giving it to you for free.
No, that only happens if you try to ask more then that.
Not to get into that in Laborious detail as a i want to (cause there is no detail to go over), but most of the gender changes they ask, don’t even effect cosmetic appearances, which is ultimately what Barbershop is for. Basicly, the other folks who ask more then that, usually ask for it to be a title (or identity)… which the game doesn’t even do for the two genders we do have, it just says <Race name> and <Class name> on the tooltip when you hover over people. Even if you installed a RP profile addon, it wouldn’t display that.
I would love to see Gender Swap in a Barbershop, also i think Barbershop should be renamed to Arcane Surgeon, as it makes some level of sense (more so then Classic’s) cause Medieval times, surgeons do have to pull double duty for barbers.
I think for some, they wouldn’t care, or their name would fit as a well.
… Maybe? i don’t know a huge deal of the mechiancs behind this code, i just take the textures and models out of the game and pose them for my personal art here and there. But if i were to guess, considering Blizzard uses rabbits to kill to signify a goal that’s been passed somewhere in the raid, which is a reference to how they do things like that in game, that maybe Blizzard couldn’t do it straight in the Barbershop menu without major overhauls to the system first. Maybe somebody have done it better on other Private servers (Sans the RP server since it only does it out of game) and somebody already figured it out then Blizzard did with the barbershop menu.

You know, now that you mentioned it, how much money does that service still makes anyways? Given that half of it’s exclusive features are given to the ingame barbershop, would cut down it’s worth by half. 
No i don’t think Race and even Faction change can fit into a Barbershop, i think that would be even too ridiculous for that, both mechanically and … ingame sense/out game sense. 
Plus Race/Faction does have a direct immediate impact to your gameplay, being racials and the faction you play as, plus your reps, quests, your dps/hps, gold income, resistances, stats, etc, etc. Picking a gender, face, or any other cosmetic option is just that: cosmetic. This also plays into why Race/Faction Services are still worth sticking around.
So if were talking slippery slopes here… yea there is a slippery slope, but that slope stops on a huge flat rock, 6 feet below it.
To those whom are curious. It’s not a code restriction. It’s simple a 1 or 0 in the database under the column of ‘gender’ and very similar to the skin, face, hair, hair color, and etc
The reasoning is probably because you can pay for it, however, let us not forget that at one time you had to pay to change your character’s looks.
I’d say it comes down to having to add the option to UI and then swap all the customization tables. It would require a reload and that’s probably why. It would feel clunky. That’s just how the engine and database work together.
It could be changed, but more trouble than it’s worth.
A lot of what’s in the barber shop they used to require us to pay for though. Just wondering if there’s some roadblock to this last bit of customization being added. Though, totally able to believe it’s just about profit too.
That excuse went out the window when they added the ability to change your face. Idk what barbers you know that can do that :P, just saiyan. If I could go to a barber and change my face that would be… well interesting lol.
Ps: but ya gender swap at barber will likely never happen.
