That’s not why he left. He left because he was strung out being creative lead for all of Blizzard’s properties. This includes WoW, Starcraft, Diablo, and Project Titan which later became Overwatch. He was going through personal issues at the time, and had a spinal surgery at one point. He left because of burnout.

Yeah Shadowlands did the zones the best since there was a narrative flow to each zone as opposed to just being done in one spot so you better go to the next one.

I don’t watch anime but a single episode is ok because it only last an hour or 30 mins. Expansions last years.
yeah, this. i barely know who most of the main characters are. i couldn’t care less whether bob the barbarian stole willy wizard’s magic flute before or after the eleventh dragon war or whatever. it’s fiction.
more power to people who enjoy it! it’s an added dimension to the game for them. i respect the people who create it and those who like it. it just does nothing for me.

Sorry to say, but you shouldn’t expect something like Cata again as Metzen himself considered it to be his lowest point.
Metzen will not save WOW> His hands will be tied and he will not be able to fix whats broken and change the direction of the game.
Imo, the story of WoW is just too far-gone from what the roots were.
Which was kinda “This world ain’t big enough for the two (factions) of us”, that has since subsided.
Turns out, I guess, the world was big enough.
Misfits surviving in a world that ultimately wasn’t for them (the Horde) and the Alliance trying to keep their newfound mortal enemies in check.
The faction war isn’t even a thing anymore, come SL. It’s just become Sylvanas versus everyone, and now it’s just faded into the background.
I’ll be honest, even though it’s an unpopular opinion- Alliance Versus Horde is the heart of what Warcraft is. Even if there can never be a winner, the racial conflicts are what drive the game forward. In DF, right now, it’s about the ‘purebred’ dragons versus the titan-influenced ones. Race is still an important part of the story.
I think bringing Metzen back in is gonna result in some interesting stories for the factions going forward.
He was Thrall, but he was also Varian Wyrnn. He’s basically both factions, at their highest order, Christ Metzen.
Also just a good hypeman for the Blizzcon events.

With all sorts of amazing villians having moved on to the afterlife after our murder hobos ganged up on them, it was such a painfully missed opportunity I think that they didn’t get a chance to step back into the spotlight really and lay some serious revenge at our feet.
With the jailer though, it was just like “who’s that?” The expansion ended and I’m still like, “Who was that guy?”
