Why... just why?

Blizz;

Why are you time gating the simplest form of rehashed content?

What is the point of not allowing us to freely do visions at our own pace? It’s visions!!!

they are a freaking side quest. they do nothing for the overall gameplay. It’s ridiculous

Because the developers are completely lost on how to engage the player base

It’s in the patch name…HORRIFIC…VISION, it’s their vision for development… we just thought they were being poetic with the name, but Undermined and Horrific Visions are quite literal. Nightfall is also full of bugs for ironic touch.

Actually the developers are spot on with engaging with the player base. There is a percentage of players that when a new form of content drops will grind it all out as fast as they can. That is an extremely small percentage compared to the bulk of their base which are casual players. If you allow the 1% to get ahead immediately, you have the other 99% feeling slighted because by the time they can jump into to it, they’re already far behind.

So you add timegating to restrict the gap between the 1% and everyone else.

How big of a deal is it really though, it’s mostly just the perks

They’ve already made them not require a vessel and infinitely repeatable and they’re easy enough to be completed right now without the full tree unlock

Cosmetics are unlocked

Sure it’s unnecessary but like, beside the concept of timegates in general, the actual thing that’s locked just seems so smol

Yeah, I was just about to make this post.

The only thing that is timegated is the upgrades afaik, which will just make visions completely trivial in a few weeks. Everything else is unlocked really, so what is being timegated? I think people just like to see the little hearts their posts get when they make yet another thread on an insignificant issue.

I guess the greater corruption isn’t out yet? But the benefits of corruptions are so small that it’s not a big deal.

I can understand your argument if you used it to defend timegating loot at expansion lauch or a new raid patch release, but for Visions? Really? What are the 99% losing or “behind” on? 2% dps/hps increase from a helm enchant? Anything else?

When season 2 ends, the enchant won’t work anymore on new gear anyway. I really fail to understand the defense of timegating this event.

Everything. Cosmetics, mounts, achievements, titles. When you’re talking about the entire playerbase, more is factored into the equation than just what increases power level.

It also cuts down on paid carries a bit, which we know this forum loves to complain about.

It’s genuinely insane that your cope is a certain design philosophy that isn’t implemented into any other aspect of the game, even in places where divides are much more meaningful.

I don’t think that’s the case at all, actually. I think they’ve just convinced themselves that players will burn themselves out and are unwilling to consider otherwise.

Defending Blizzard’s dumb decisions on insignificant issues gets you more hearts than criticizing them. Which is why you have more than the OP.

GD is a cesspool of toxic positivity, and its residents have convinced themselves that it’s filled with negative clout farmers.

My main was so heavily corrupted in BFA that she was an all-over dark blue, and I had guildies vying for me to go with them into visions. Does it not work that way now?

It’s genuinely insane that you’re implying there isn’t timegating in any other aspect of the game.

In regards to this specific event none of those things are timegated though and infact players already had the 40k dragon mount less than 24 hours after release. 5 mask full clears have already been done

Cosmetics and mounts are already not timegated anymore so that’s not even part of the discussion people bring up still. Regardless, those + achievements and titles aren’t limited time, so why would a person that’s in the 99% care if the 1% got it early when they can get it any time they want?

The timegate problem has more/everything to do with arbitrarily preventing players from just playing the event to it’s fullest and restricting 1 reward that is only meant to last a few months.

Counterpoint: worgens not having tails :dracthyr_lulmao:

Just in this thread. Other threads on this subject, OPs complaining about timegating have several dozen hearts.

You can’t seriously believe this

At first I was on board with the outrage, but then I realized I’m no where near being able to do these with masks, and need some time to learn and adjust to what is (for me) brand new content.

Seems like the next step of the hourglass tree is what’s holding up a lot of players from progressing. But if this is the hardest week, let it be so. I’d rather learn the ropes (and unlock the tributes) to be ready for next week’s unlocks.

I just don’t understand what they thought the rewards structure was here. An achievement to open up the gear vendors, with the same amount of Horrific Mementos needed to buy gear at each level. Oh and for 1000 and 2000 mementos you have the privilege of it being warbound?

Meanwhile Nightfall event, that came out a month ago, has deterministic Champion track gear and they just throw Veteran at you for showing up. Oh and easy Champion gear just for 325 valorstones.

Oh and visions are tuned to be above the gear level they provide. This whole thing is dumb for anything beyond cosmetics. It’s saving grace is that it’s actually fun.
