Why isn’t Camouflage baseline for Survival Hunters?

It’s actually really fun to PvP with. Mobile with control tools and high sustain dmg.

I assumed you were talking about live. On beta the 6 sec rez timer will destroy hunters.

Survival is extremely fun!

No, we aren’t, but rogues can enter stealth every three seconds. In addition, they (and feral druids) have abilities that take advantage of their stealth (or can only be used in stealth). Stealth is their specialty, but that doesn’t mean hunters can’t be decent at it, either.

Hunters are hardly going to be the sort of threat rogues present in a PVP or PVE setting: they don’t get damage bonuses to attacking from camouflage, they don’t stack, they don’t stun, and even if camouflage started counting down on use instead of on exit (and it absolutely should), you’re still looking at a 60s CD.

Hunter is already decent at it, i feel that giving it pseudo perma stealth like rogue/feral is homogenization.

Survival actually counters rouge currently.

Again, they’re certainly not getting the same options and level of stealth that a rogue or feral are getting. They can’t perma-sap someone or sun them. The most a hunter can do is trap them or disorient them. (Aside from outright killing them, of course.)

Assuming that camo’s CD starts once the hunter uses it? Once a hunter drops camo for any reason, they’ve got anywhere between 1-60 seconds before they can pop it again: you and I both know that sort of variation can either be very bad or very good, but it’s nowhere near as consistent as it would be for a rogue or druid. It’s hardly homogenization - a feral druid isn’t even homogenization when put alongside a rogue.

You know hunter had baseline camo with the CD starting on use for multiple expansions right?

And it was fun when you could hide in Battle o’ Gilneas and be a big ganker in that bg.

That sounds lovely. I don’t think I’ve ever won that BG in all my years playing WoW, haha!

It was during Cata/MoP, prime time for us and Im sure for other classes, when you could be sneaky and your battle pet screwed you over lol.

LOL! I might try a private server for MoP, it sounds really good gameplay-wise and I didn’t play WoW seriously enough back then. Thanks for the tip!

It’s been ages, but I think the last time I really played Survival it was around when we got dual spec and I usually used it in BGs. :slightly_smiling_face:

I have, on a few occasions, found myself zoning out while in camouflage and totally missed the enemy grabbing our flag.

Prior to camouflage I used to drink Noggenfogger elixir until I was really small. I’d then place MOLL-E, the mailbox, and hide in it. The amount of people I surprised doing that. lol

Didn’t we also used to have an aspect that prevented us from being tracked?

Hey y’all this me on a new gnome I still think that camouflage should be baseline

But if camo goes back to baseline, what old removed ability would take it’s place in the talents? It seems pretty clear that they only prune abilities to just give them back to us instead of new stuff.

Edit: sorry, is that too salty?

Just an FYI to this thread: Camouflage did indeed used to be baseline but it was a bit different:

  • The cooldown started as soon as you used it, not as soon as it faded
  • It was not a true stealth unless you were standing still. While moving it made you untargetable by ranged attacks. It also reduced aggro radius
  • There was a glyph that turned it into a full stealth in exchange for -50% run speed
  • Many more abilities cancelled it back then

So there were some trade-offs.

Back when the entire game didnt revolve around endless tiers of instanced PvE and one type of instanced pvp.

Yes. I agree.
