In all honesty, I don’t think he’s ever played FFXIV to begin with.
Well then, this has devolved into a meaningless back-and-forth.
Time to rip out MEGAS.
If we’re going to be stupid, we may as well have some fun.
OP: “I think WoW is the best and here’s why:”
Weirdo: “BLLLAAHHHH, rant, rant, rant about FF14! WEEEBBB!!”
Well 2019 was the year that companies starting getting the “diablo style” arpgs right and that is years later after d3 or poe. so you just never know, a grim dawn, wolcen or last epoch may be just around the corner.
For me, its cause its the only one I know a lot.
I played WC3 a lot as a teen, so im very familiar with the lore and like it. I left WoW years ago for Warhammer Online, Age of Conan, and Wildstar, and those all flopped.
WoW is just cozy for me.
Ive spent many MANY hours playing this game, i dont wanna lose that. Ya i agree thats a weak reason, but its true for many players.
It amused me when he called it a weeb game lol, I mean if he wants to judge a game it’s w/e, but hey he’s playing a troll hunter, probably one of thee most trash tier races in WoW ![]()
Damn I miss Wildstar and WAR
wow is only "king"because of its supposed amount of subs. ifor one am scekptical of that becaise blizz doesint release active subs. that and the amount of time the average and the none average player has invested into it makes themkeep playing it even if you unsub for a while. (like me for examble i have too much time invested to give it up for good) ihonestly dont know how a game withsuch a crappy community that has active distain for new players stays not just relevent but supposedly the best in terms of the number of active players/ if we base the king of mmos onother achivmenets it wouldint be king. shadowbringers compared to bfa isint even a contest.one lost subs the other achived subs and the highest rating of 2019. i dont wow to die but if maybe its lost its supposed title of king for a while maybe it could grow better. you cant learn from mistakes if you are supposedly always succeeding which bfa did not succed by any reasonable standard. and like i said i cant fathom how a game that has distain for new players, activly keeping new players from re-subbing can be at the top. it boggles the mind but whatever let it have its title, its a good a firmiler game and one i enjoy but if its ever going to be great again, its not the gameplay that needs addressing more so then the community. if ffxiv and wow had come out at the same time it wouldint of even been a contest
The new ones that came out that are decent have absolutely nothing to do with their world setting.
FF14 has very little in common with other FF games and ESO is not well received by fans of the Elder Scroll series. Looking further down the ladder… everyone knows TOR is just WoW reskinned with a Star Wars theme and SWG was the superior Star Wars MMO.
WoW may have deviated away from Warcraft for a lot of players but when it started, it was definitely the next step in the Warcraft universe. Every other MMO is just “inspired” by their universe but fail to actually represent it. So they end up being like GW2… yea, the gameplay isn’t bad but it’s hard to stay stuck in because you’re not committed to the world.
… you do realize how the FF series works, don’t you?
Every single main-number entry is its own separate entity with no connection to the previous installments. Actual sequels were unheard of until FFX-2.
Everything from previous games which do show up are recurring characters (and creatures) or homages to the older games. In that regard, FFXIV is a strong representative of the FF series… and probably the most jam-packed with an ever-increasing number of homages.
The only thing unusual about it is the MMORPG framework & gameplay.
Yea, and it’s the MMORPG concept that makes it so different. A big part of some of the more popular FFs is your party and their stories. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you don’t get that in FF14 yea? You’re not out there trying to recruit a Cid or a Vivi… that’s always been the appeal of the FF games for me.
WOW needs to bring the McRib back.
End game is bad in most ot her MMOs.
No other mmo combat feels as fluid as wow. I’ve tried eso, gw2 and a few others and they all feel weird compared to wows combat.
Although ive never played final fantasy mmo so idk about that one.
You’re wrong, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the expansions.
The plot did take a while to find it’s footing, but now it’s actually considered one the best the series has seen in a very long time.
The player character is still mostly a “heroic mime” with no actual spoken dialogue (though you still get a few dialogue options), but the cast of characters who help you throughout the game and its expansions have developed considerably. Heck, even the player character gets some hints of character development throughout the game if you know what the look for.
It took them quite a while to actually pull this off, but with the latest expansion you can actually opt to take them through all the dungeons (but not the trials, which are 8-man boss fights) which are a part of the main story… and they do mechanics.
The previous expansion also had you controlling them at certain points (in combat, no less), which has also continued into the latest expansion. It’s mostly a very basic version of one of the classes, but it works out as a solo scenario and can act as a key character moment.
The story, party, and character development are all there.
You just don’t actually fight alongside them that much (until recently).
“Rabbit girls?” That’s a funny way to spell Hrothgar.
Legion was the best WoW has ever been and it’s because they spent so much time on story and personalized class lore.
I stand corrected then, gracias for the information.
