You know it’s not a spider. It’s pixels in a video game.

Now…if they want to turn gnomes into something more appealing I could totally get on board with that.

This is the new thing to troll game developers with. I see this brought up in every game that has spiders now for the last 2 or 3 years.

And some of them even put it into their games. We need to stop accomodating concern trolls.

I will come at this thread in an attempt to understand and share.

While I do not have arachnophobia myself, I do have PTSD from an event earlier in my life. While it was a long time ago, the scar remains.

Even though I read about it, in a webcomic made of pixels and digital art, it still unnerves me. I get very uncomfortable, and unfortunately, the memory resurfaces. I am still able to function, but it still elicits that response.

Now, I don’t know if OP had a horrible experience with spiders and it triggers that instinctual response, or if its the opposite ‘because they feel like it’. I won’t assume, but thats my explanation.

this is a troll thread. it has nothing to do with ptsd. My house got hit by a tornado in 2020 and I understand what ptsd is. My brother shot himself and died.

I don’t go on forza website asking to remove rain because of my ptsd. I don’t email movies about someone killing themselves.

Glad you understand it’s irrational. That’s what makes it their problem, and nobody elses.

You should accomodate rational disabilities, not irrational trolling.

I’m not sure that there’s ever going to be a plan to re-develop Classic content with an Arachnophobia mode. I had sort of just assumed the reason they have it for Retail was the theme of the current expansion.

I guess it depends on how popular it is perceived for Retail, and whether there’s any reason to think it would help increase sub numbers.

I find it difficult to fully understand the extent to which a phobia may be a condition rather than just disliking something, but I have friends who have very strong reactions to the sight of blood for example, who are unable to even watch shows or movies with bleeding.

So, I gather there may be some sort of sight-based reaction triggered that people are unable to consciously manipulate.
