Yes, and once they change that/fix that it’s only trap in name. I 100% believe if they made “traps” just a targeted ability like every other ability in the game hunter purists would complain about the fantasy being ruined.
I mean what else could you want besides one of THE main mechanics? not to mention pack leader existng…
adding: it’s not purely based on pet coordination, that’s just one of its themes. I think between tip, kill command, flanking strike, flankers advantage, coordinated assault, spear head, and spirit mastery that’s quite a lot of “pet coordination” themes
Not really. What I mean by changes is basically being able to hit all bosses with traps, the same way the melee range is increased on Eye of Jailer bosses so you dont need to be at very edge to be able to hit them.
And for PVE a trap that dots all enemies currently in the area would be way more fitting in my view than chucking bombs. That way even if more mobs enter, or even leave said area the damage would be guaranted.
Id say old Coordinated Assault was a good example. Tip, Pack Leader and a burst CD (Old CA) would be enough pet coordination in my view.
Of course this is all my opinion. I can’t see Blizz actually doing these changes. But one can dream!

I know we disagree, but new CA is a much better CD and actually functions. the old CA was a lot clunkier to use despite being thematically better tied to pet basic attacks. I wouldnt mind mind a pet basic attack node on your spec tree

Fair, I think they could’ve made old CA way less clunkier and have a good and theme-fitting burst CD instead of just scrapping it.
Something to consider is how much actually stronger new CA is. the damage bonus while its up is great, the increase in KC resets mean more access to sic’em and tip bonuses, and then if you use RPF your tip bonus just becomes massive on top of immediately refilling all your bombs, on top of the haste bonus. I’m a big fan personally
I don’t take damage into consideration because numbers can always be buffed and nerfed. But if we’re talking solely numbers, then yeah I can agree with you.
Survival cant be about traps since that’s shared with all 3 specs a shared identity what Survival really is a hot and cold hidden/throwing weapon fighter with a 2h weapon for defense. If anything id like to see butchery as a choice node with Chakrams and bring back throwing axe back into talent tree.
wasn’t explosive shot one of sv’s signature abilities?
You mean like the talent trees of old? Like the pre-Mists system?
You understand how BORING that was? Here, go to this website and fill out this cookie cutter talent build. I would have thought that Mists thru SL gave interesting options each level bracket. There’s a reason that talent system had the LONGEST RUN.
If you’re of that mindset, I can see how boring the neo-bonsai tree system looks. That’s been doubled down a bit with the “evergreen” hero talents. We’ll see how that goes down the line.
