Yeah I am okay with pirate transmogs or maybe even some glyphs that would change the ability appearances to a pirate theme. But straight up locking a spec behind a very specific fantasy is no fun. Combat rogue was generic enough and definitely different from the other specs.

Itâs quite simple. Rogue requires significantly more effort to reach a lower potential than other specs. That pushes away all but the people who play rogue because of the fantasy.
Rogue specs need to be simplified and hopefully midnight fixes them. Assassination should be the consistent damage and premier execute spec (in the game, not just for rogues). Sub should be all about those 1 minute burst windows.
Outlaw just needs a rework. Iâd prefer turning it into either a tank or range dps spec.

rogue into a tank - then why not make a druid? its the same thing you have to do a different spec vs a druid that can already tank and do rogue things in forms.
range dps spec - then why not make a hunter with heroism- way better
my point is they have to do something for this class that other classes havenât done already which makes it really hard to do. as the DRUID will out do them in everything.
Iâd kill for a talent to replace Slice & Dice with a passive of some sort. Not saying it needs to be as strong, just that I am more than willing to sacrifice dps for not having to deal with a maintenance buff.
It would help if rogue abilities werenât disabled in most dungeon / raid settings. They rely on the use of stealth and CC and half their toolkit has no effect. Just as an example, starting the Headless Horseman fight automatically removes rogues and druids from stealth.
Eh? Where did you see that cause Icy-Veins says otherwise based on player data.
Class Popularity Rankings by Player Data
Hunter: 10.3%
Druid: 10.3%
Paladin: 10.1%
Warrior: 9.0%
Mage: 8.2%
Priest: 7.4%
Shaman: 7.3%
Demon Hunter: 7.2%
Warlock: 7.1%
Death Knight: 7.0%
Rogue: 6.3%
Monk: 6.2%
Evoker: 3.7%
Hereâs a snapshot taken on January 2, 2025, from Data for Azeroth.
Evoker is least popular. Rogue is twice as popular as them.
Itâs a class fantasy thing for me.
When Iâm playing a rogue, I wanna pretty much one-shot almost anyone with a single hit coming out of stealth. That would obviously be a problem in WoW.
Iâm just not into games where my âassassinâ has to tickle people to death with flashy moves and CC⌠or build up a bunch of combo points. You only need combos if your first hit isnât good enough lol.
So when I feel like playing a rogue â I just play games that are designed for stealth/1 shots.
Does feel like most ppl played rogue for pvp servers but since that got removed the fun for them ended.
Why use 10 month old data when the site is up and usable with current stats ![]()
(Plus that looks to be all levels not just max level.
Personally i only count max level data as i dont think low level alts matter
)
Being a pure DPS spec that has 3 flavors of the same exact thing while offering nothing useful to a group, especially in the most difficult content in the game in mythic+ is a hard sell.
Add the fact all 3 rogue specs are incredibly nuanced and convoluted to play makes this even worse. No WoW spec is objectively hard to play, but there are absolutely easier specs that offer higher numbers that also offer massive other advantages like having a useful group utility or at least access to other more indemand roles.
NOBODY needs melee DPSâŚespecially in higher difficulty levels where melee is a glut of a role and even less need a melee DPS who can ONLY offer melee DPS and whose numbers are VERY questionable given the wide skill disparity in players and what it takes to pull off numbers.
The good news is given how easy it is to level and get baseline gear to start real levels of content, if/when rogues are tuned better and/or their âutilityâ becomes critical in mythic+, or somehow even raids, itâll be trivial to get alts leveled/geared up to see their population increase again.
it feels like a base melee dps class to me and the other dps classes do it way more fun
Any fun you can get out of the energy and combo point systems youâll get better in cat druid and windwalker, with more utility and the ability to play the other roles to boot.
Was the first thing that popped up when I was searching to see if what OP said was true. Google isnt giving me anything else for a site that lets me filter based on class either that or im an idiot. wowanalytica is where I tried.
I just doubt the claim. I suppose if selectively choosing the data points then I guess itâs possible.
Your post said where its from ![]()
https://www.dataforazeroth.com/stats/classes/maxlevel
And that site still shows Evoker lower than rogue at max level only. Also for even non-max level.
It does, not debating that evoker is the lowest.
Just seemed weird to use old data ![]()
Evokers being low population has way more to do with the fact theyâve only recently been added to the game and to a lesser degree that theyâre limited to 1 race (and being a caster in a world where everyone wants to be a tank/melee because of how free/easy the playstyle is).
Weâre officially at the point that a launch class is being compared to one released last expansion.
Honestly, Iâm not sure who that is worse for but itâs certainly not good news for either. Know what they both have in common? Incredibly convoluted, terrible specs (Pres, Sub/Outlaw) that drive people to classes that DONâT have those specs (DK, Ret Pally, BM Hunter).
the one thing wow should focus on is class dailies, with rogues getting daily quests going out to assassinate people in the world. its one the most memorable class quests i played in legion.
Iâve been playing on a âCombatâ rogue for over 20 years. In that span of time, WoW turned far to one side and disliked âWARâ. They renamed it âoutlawâ. Instead of a member of the military, they named it to be a criminal.
Every class has its own positives and its own negatives. I play 14 level 80 toons. My rouge is what I want him to be. He is a master at stealing and gathering. In a fight, he can constantly stun, change the perception, heal himself, and if needed, VANISH. He is a rogue, if you have no clue about how a rogue works, stay away from them. - he is also the best gold gatherer of all my 14 level 80 toons. ![]()
I played the crap out of my rogue back when the legendary daggers content was happening, but now it just feels like so much hassle to get slice and dice + rupture up on stuff before you can start doing some damage, like not that itâs hard per se, it just takes a bit to get up and running and it kinda annoys me.
To be honest, my rogue has been demoted to the level of rarely played alt that uses the one button rotation thingy, and i actually enjoy it more like that ![]()
