Why is Renzik still not voiced?

Heck give me a free 6 month sub and I’ll do it. I definitely have a squeaky New York Goblin voice.

Not much of a rogue though , I am more like a wall they throw spaghetti and crap at , to see if it sticks

Remember Renzik is one of the slogans of the uprising. It’s funny, cause I bet in 3 months nobody will.

They didn’t care to make a voice for someone who was going to be killed off in the Patch…

And yet his death and lack of Voice makes him all the more memorable than any Goblin who has a Voice aside from Gallywix…

I get that they didn’t lend him a voice given how short-lived he would be patch-wise.

Yet he was integral to the story.

That’s the problem.

I still kind of suspect that the reason they left him unvoiced (rather than just re-casting the role, which would have been particularly easy, given his voice would have been new to people anyway) is because some people in Blizzard wanted to do something symbolic in support of the voice actor strike.

Might be wrong, but Blizzard’s known to have a lot of pro-union sentiment. Activision at the top clearly doesn’t, but different divisions often have their own cultures separate from parent companies.

Hey remember that dragon person who died protecting the eggs in the first hour and a half of Dragonflights story? They had a voice.

Renzik should have gotten a voice, short lived is no excuse when characters like what ever their name was exist.

(I’m agreeing with you even though it sounds like I’m fighting you)

I think it would be awesome if they just spliced in some horrible voice - someone from the office that does not fit with background noise. Think Plan 9 from Outer Space but for a voice.

I’m glad you posted this. I thought it was my comp

Oh . I am not picking on voice actors, they effect me emotionally and ill either Love /hate a fictional character , which is like a form of magic or something.

I just totally sound like a goblin in real life.

I agree with a few posters back, WOW is probably showing solidarity with the VA union strike. It sounds like a reasonable explanation to me.

Now if only they could just like, get Keanu Reaves to voice Renzik’s 20-odd lines and call it a day.

Considering the entire nature of the Galliago scene? Yeah I can see it. But hey, whatever. We all know very very well, that the Goblins would of laced the pedestal of the statue with high grade explosives, and sent it rocketing into the sky; not pulling it down like angry teenagers with zero grasp of history. All in all, the entire scene left me with a Marvin the Martian mindset, and a Megatron vibe.

“Where’s the KABOOM! There was supposed to be a KABOOM!!”
“…This is bad comedy.”

You find out why they didn’t bother hiring a voice actor for Renzik in this week’s campaign quests. Blizzard is so cheap.

Yep. Right on the money Zemus. There’s that too. Such purchases don’t age too well. But I do wish they’d given him a He Softfoot scenario where he used sign-language or something or had some sort of past which explained the silence. Could of been a creative solution? Oh well, that cake be baked.

Which makes it worse, actually. The impact of that event was cheapened because we didn’t connect with the character as much as the others. I forgot he was even there half the time because he didn’t have voice lines while everyone else did.

well theres a reason for it. he’s dead jim!

I don’t think the events of the campaign are really an influence here; there’ve been plenty of voiced characters with even less screen time than Renzik. I’ve settled on it being due to the VA strike and my hope is that, even though I missed out on him being voiced while going through the campaign, he’ll eventually get his lines at some point in the future after the strike is resolved.

I guess it doesn’t matter now.

…and now it’s a non-issue. RIP, Renzik.

I still think it’s an ‘issue’ because it’s still a character clearly meant to have voice lines who doesn’t have voice lines (I mean, think of all the one-off enemies who’re voiced literally for a single confrontation with them and they die), but at least there’s a likely explanation as to why it happened in the VA strike.
