He didn’t do anything wrong in fact it is easy to argue with hindsight that he was right about everything…
Yet the alliance acts like they are ashamed of him for trying to save them from all of the wars that followed from betraying him.

He’s not a villain. Anduin is just a doofus. Legit trying to save his daughter from the horde.
Turns out he was right. Surprise! LOL
You do realize Blizzard was running out of excuses to make the Horde exist in this game as a faction and had to turn to popular Horde fanboy theories to write off the deeds committed by the Orcish Horde and Sylvanas?
It gets even more grey since Ions recent interview in China confirmed Calia won’t be joining the horde right now.
Q2. Will Calia Menethil and Derek Proudmoore join the Horde in the upcoming story?
A: This is a complicated issue. Calia is very sympathetic towards the situation and condition of the Forsaken, but she will not join the Horde because of this. Additionally, the number of Forsaken who may welcome their presence is not fixed.
He attacked the horde during a time of peace… And technically forcefully took over a member state of the alliance.
He was kinda an dick.
He was attacked by orcs who thought joining up with demons…again was a good idea.
Are… You referring to the second war?
That war was long over. Daelin Proudmoore attacked Thralls horde during a time of peace, assaulted his daughters kingdom taking it under martial law and got exactly what he deserved.
The only reason Theramore got attacked is because it was fielding warmachines and troops, yet continued to cry that it was neutral. So no, in hindsight he’s a moron that cried foul over something that was his own undoing, just like Jaina and most Alliance have been.
Well… he attacked Horde settlements without provocation and then tried to establish Kul Tiran authority as THE authority on Kalimdor and demanded that Rexxar, Rokhan and Chen be arrested even though they were Jaina’s traveling companions who protected her and aided her.
Then he launched a campaign against the Orc and got his butt whooped. Iunno, maybe don’t start something if you can’t finish it
Yet if the factions were reversed he’d be brought up constantly by players and blizzard as “proof horde is big meanie >:(”
Daelin did nothing wrong, literally.
MOP and BFA are a huge “Daelin was right after all, the horde cant be trusted”. His only mistake was starting a attack he couldnt win.
You’re right let’s go attack everyone who might one day attack us.
Daelin was a stuck up fool trapped in the past. A warrior unable to adapt to a world of peace, and he remains an excuse for people to justify war.
That’s his legacy. A warmonger. A traitor to the alliance.
Yeah… but he was super right.
Wait a second! An Orc lecturing others about unprovoked attacks upon settlements?!? Did I just step into the twilight zone or did you forget that your kind came here form another planet to do EXACTLY THAT!
Alliance: “The Horde can’t be trusted. Attaaaaaack!”
Horde: “They’ve attacked us for no reason. To waaaaar!”
Alliance: “See? I told you so!”
Horde: “No, U!”
Rinse and repeat. Daelin’s crime was to NOT take advantage of an opportunity to end the cycle.
Well yea, and we’re seen as the villain for it and accept it.
It’s like that episode of the Office where Creed gets upset that other men are using the women’s restroom even though he does it all the time. He accepts the consequences of his actions but is upset because the others don’t.
“I’m a pretty normal guy. I do one weird thing. I like to go in the women’s room for number two. I’ve been caught several times and I have paid dearly.” - Creed Bratton
Do you honestly think we can make “peace” with a group of people who love to battle each other as a sport? With a bunch of overly muscular folks brandishing ridiculously large axes while screaming “BLOOD AND THUNDER” all the time? With folks who had (or, at least was once a member of a group that had) a bad track record of starting 2 wars without provocation and killing numerous innocents?
I don’t know man… I think Daelin’s paranoia is justified.
In my honest opinion, “making peace with the horde” looks a lot like the US effort to make peace with the warring tribes of Afghanistan for the last two decades. A pipe dream. A futile endeavor. A waste of time. War is their way of living and there’s no changing it. Even the mighty Thrall could not change it.
Honestly, humans aren’t much better. I stand by humans and orcs can continue smacking each other and the rest of us can just chill out and work on fixing the, I don’t know, giant flaming sword currently impaling our planet.
Or I guess the broken sky over Icecrown.
Now that I’m thinking about it, I’m wondering if Blizzard is just going to forget about the massive, planet cracking sword and move on to another issue. It just feels weird to me to leave it, but Yknow, so does still not being able to group with the Alliance despite the speech about breaking the cycle of hatred.
I may be wrong here, but old Thrall’s Horde and Vol’Jin’s Horde were quite peacefull, and were trying to maintain Ballance
then came Garrosh and Sylvannas
The horde the alliance faced in the first and second wars is not the horde of the third war.
The orcs were manipulated from what they were and their world made barren by the machinations of the legion. Were it the humans in such straights would anything be any different?
Thralls horde was trying to live. Away from the alliance. Daelin started the decline of peace to what we have now. All of this starts with him.
If you’re not willing to entertain peace, you don’t deserve it.
