Why is Mythic plus dying?

No. If you remove the timer then the devs needs to be more creative which WOW devs have never really shown as a strength.

I think timers can fit into an RPG in very specific instances like the Strat runs back in Vanilla or the ZA Bear runs in TBC. Other than that they should be limited to MoP like Challenge modes IMO.

Then tell them how they can do it without the timer.

The thing is that Mythic+ is a challenge mode.

Affixes and Health/Damage scaling are plenty. Affixes add an interesting twist and Health and Damage scaling is central to WOW progression.

If you’re argument is that players would ā€œcheeseā€ with multiple Tanks or other strats let me stop you right there. A cornerstone of RPG’s dating back to Pen and Paper days is allowing players to come up with creative ways to beat content put in front of them by the DM. WOW has gone so far away from that it’s barely an RPG anymore.

A Challenge mode that offers end game power progression. That’s the issue. I had no problem with MoP Challenge modes because they allowed players to test themselves and were competitive but they only offered cosmetic rewards.

Making such a game-y idea as timed runs a core part of progression in a RPG is bad.

Maybe because i have never played or cared about a Pen and Papar RPG i would say that 5 tanks would be damn awful. And yet it has been done in this expansion.

I mean if you want more RPG it could be done from giving more options to player customization and talents.

And thats exactly why i love them, i have no issue at all with it.

Exactly why i hated those and never wasted time with it. How does a damn cosmetic changes anything for me? How does my weapon looking ā€œbetterā€ makes my character better?

I fail to see this plus i don’t think is a ā€œcore partā€ of the game. There’s people that don’t even touch Mythic+ because they only raid, PvP or farm mounts.

I really don’t feel like getting into this tit for tat thing responding to each point like you did. I’ll just say that you have no clue what an RPG is. Why are you even playing on ED?

This is the issue and why you can’t see the problem. /shrug

This is a highly subjective thing.

If you are doing +6’ish regulary with a typical group or crowd you draw from then drop into a random +0 it can feel like the +0 is immensly harder. This is, in my view, because many people in +0 are newly levelled alts and or a persons first foray into mythic at all.

This leads to standing in things that are ouchy in normal/heroic but lethal in mythic. In the same vein abilities you use whenever you want may need to be used for specific things, and the interrupt rotations can be a nightmare as suddenly it does matter not just to kick but to kick only the right things.

I know quite a few people that run 11+ regularly who have noted this same phenomenon. Objectively on paper it is not more difficult, but in practice it can be immensly so.

just because i didn’t play a pen and paper one?

Why wouldnt i? What stops me from it?

I don’t see how not caring about a certain type of games makes it a problem.

Power progression in MMORPG’s is always transitory. A cool cosmetic (as long as cosmetic mogging is in) is something you can use forever.

It’s a different point of view.

Personally, the dungeons themselves are not as fun than they were in legion (for me), not being able to switch gear in the middle of runs is another problem i have. A lot of mobs cast or have a lot of moves that cause them to either dash to a spot or stand still and spin around, so you have times like sanguin weeks where its just annoying to have to sit and wait for a mob to finish and get out. I get it, it can be a ā€œget gudā€ situation, but that doesnt mean its fun.

Another thing, is that there really isnt any goal to them other than ā€œget a 10 for the weeklyā€. I would love if they brought back the challenge sets from MoP, but change the colors, so at least those who did it mop can be like ā€œi got the original setā€, and those who didnt can get the same set but of a different color. So there would be at least some difference.

That’s completely fair.

I just rather have the power in that transition that a cosmetic. As you said different point of views, nor yours or mine is wrong just different.

Because it’s harder and less fun in BFA. It also isn’t as rewarding as it was in legion.

In Legion I would run mythic+ all day because at least it have AP. And most of the dungeons we’re actually fun. There were really only a few I tried to avoid.

In BFA, I am to run just one a week to get ten. There isn’t a single dungeon that I actually like. There are multiple affixes that I actively hate such as grievous, bursting, quaking, and teeming. There are certain dungeons I just don’t want to do at all depending on the affixes.

It’s sad really. I was excited when they said they were going to be able to design these dungeons with mythic+ in mind. It seems what they meant was that there were going to fill them with trash and just make them more punishing.

Oh AND in Legion Holy Priest wasn’t anyone’s first pick for Mythic+ but a lot of what the artifact weapon and legendaries added was survivability and mobility for holy. Without that in BFA Holy Priest does not feel good in Mythic+ especially with dungeon encounter design that requires tons of movement.

Mythic+ isn’t dying but thanks for the bogus claim.

I myself do enjoy M+, its the chest of disappointment that demotivates me. This is the 3rd or 4th week in a row that i have received 410 hands which is unfortunately my highest slot anyway. Blizzard should put in a system that prevents or at least reduces the chance that a piece of gear will drop for your highest ilv slot unless multiple slots are at that same ilv or perhaps a system that reduces the chance that you will receive a piece of gear in the same slot as the previous week. Nobody wants to grind a 10+ key every week just do be given loot that they cannot benefit from especially if there are other slots that are significantly lower than the rest. I’m not looking for hand outs or anything but its definitely less fun when you don’t feel the excitement of opening your weekly chest at the start of each week because you’re betting its going to be garbage.

How’s the M+ scene looking these days? I find it easier to join heroic raids than M+ on my server. Not many groups listed whenever I check.

I loved M+ in Legion. I could spend all day doing keys, it was a blast!

BfA? Nope. I don’t know why. It’s not fun.

Probably because nearly every single Legion dungeon is better designed and more fun than any dungeon in BFA. The only dungeon I don’t mind doing in BFA is Freeloot and that’s because of how fast the dungeon is. If I logged on tomorrow and Kings Rest, Shrine, Motherloade and Temple were removed I don’t think many people would even care at all.

Be Melee and have stealth.

Personally I don’t like any of the 5 man dungeons this expansion as where Legion I only disliked a couple of them. Also Raider IO don’t help people get sick of being rejected over and over again.

players will only endure boring content for so long…
