Where did you find that number? They don’t release the numbers anymore.
dont remind me of those weird dragon ads on instagram
I pity the fool who doesn’t know Mr T!
It doesn’t, though. Existing players leave because of real life changes and need to be replaced by new players. Like, sometimes even wow players die. Mortality is 100% in this life.
That’s honestly another reason.
I swapped to Brave browser, so I can watch YouTube and listen to SoundCloud, completely ad-free on both.
Everyone’s feeling the squeeze of inflation lately, so ads have gotten more intrusive and annoying, thus pushing more into installing AdBlockers.
Blizzard advertises they do on TikTok.
Youtube sucks. Every new adblocker I install it’s irrelevant two weeks later.
Brave is still working strong, at least for YouTube watching.
Full agree on the part about them sucking, they definitely sold out lol.
On Chrome I’d have to stop watching every other video, due to the 2-3 30-second ads, only occasionally letting you wait 5 seconds to skip.
Enough was enough, no ads on Brave so far, so good.
I mainly like to watch documentaries about stuff, sometimes 30 mins or longer, it’s amazing having these videos not be broken up by ads.
I’ve never seen an ad on youtube and I haven’t had a single problem with my adblocker. Firefox + Ublock Origin.
That said, TV ads are worthless because noone watches TV anymore, at least not like that. I haven’t owned a TV or watched anything “live on TV” since 1998, and I don’t even know anyone that owns a TV anymore.
They did promote DF a lot. They had ads with actors and stuff. But advertising is expensive. I don’t think you’ll see it all the time.
They do. There are more avenues to advertising other than traditional media (tv/radio). And let’s be honest, most people that would play a game are not watching traditional tv or listening to radio.
If you are going to spend millions on ads, you target them.
Youtube’s adds are so repetitive and consistent. I feel like I am watching the ads more than the video. Once I get an ad on a video I stop watching the video immediately it’s just not worth it.
Got a TLDR? That’s a lot of words for my dumb lizard brain.
I could have sworn I was just bombarded with ads for WoW a few weeks ago until the great google algorithm suddenly decided I’m French for some inexplicable reason.
There are banner ads on appropriate sites, but no commercials. Come to think of it, I can’t remember seeing a MMO with an actual commercial ad before or after WoW. In the US, of course.
Edit: woops did not mean to reply to you sorry
Blizzard can barely communicate with its own players and you expect them to think about talking to people who aren’t paying them?
Well that needs to change. If necessary hire new staff with solid advertising/promotional skills. There are qualified people out there that can sell refrigerators to Eskimos. These individuals are well versed at finding new avenues that will reach the target audiences.
Literally everyone that has any remote interest in WoW has already played it…and lets not kid ourselves here, what young chap is going to be interested in playing a game thats nearly 20 years old? Not saying it DOESNT happen, but the cost of an advertisement sure isnt going to reel in enough new players to be worth it. Everyone already knows WoW exists that is potentially going to play it.
IMO the only people who are really getting into WoW these days are people who play other MMOs, particularly when that MMO hasn’t had any new or good content in awhile and they’re looking around for something to do. I’m often surprised by how many people get into this game after first playing FFXIV, even though that’s basically what I did (except in my case it was XI and not XIV)
LOL. This poster Tigersan has mentioned in an other thread some time ago that he/she is over 70 years old. I don’t remember the exact age. But yeah. So to him/her it’s more like the 1950s.
I’m sure Tigersan believes I love Lucy and the Honeymooners are relevant broadcasts.
