Why is Blizz. so Stubborn to give new Races

Well probably be getting ethereals in midnight

Like I said, it’s not about how hard or easy it would be. It’s about cost and ROI.

Take Ogres as an example. They rebuilt a bunch of stuff for Ogres for WoD to make NPCs eaier to make, so they should be one of the easier races to do. But it would still take a lot of dev time to bring them up to the propper fidelity for a playable race. And not just initial dev time but reviews and tweeks and a hundered other things.

And after all that who is going to play Ogres? Sure a very small dedicated fan base will play them. But we saw with Kul’Tiran the vast majority of people don’t like large fat characters. KTs are the lowest played race. An exec is going to take one look at those numbers and say ā€˜are you insane? Heck no, get to making a new table for that Housing thing that we can sell on the store’.

I mean, we got Pandas and Earthen. I’m sure theres a lot of people that would want to play an ogre. Id faction swap my warrior to one the second I could.

Uhhh… Fat…? I think you mean THICCCCC

And Pandas and Earthen are two of the least played races. Not enough people would play Ogres. The only way Ogres become playable is if they become a focal point of an xpac and the devs really really want Ogres so they can roll the cost into the overarching cost of the xpac like they did with Earthen.

I feel like there should be subrace slots for a lot of allied races instead of full race slots.

What I mean by this is, instead of say, a Kul’tiran human taking up a whole race slot, you click the human slot and the game prompts you to pick between a regular human and a Kul’tiran human. The racial and faction info will pop up for whichever option you picked.

In the case of elves for example, the background will change from alliance to horde depending on if you pick a night/void elf or a nightborne/blood elf.
This can work for tauren, gnomes, dwarves (choose your faction for earthen), draenei, trolls, etc.

Normally I would just say ā€œmake allied races customization options insteadā€, but I 100% understand that they have different racials for different reasons, so I’d much rather have one big group button for a species, and then you select the actual race within that species, like how Baldur’s Gate 3 does it.

If this is done, I can see room being made for more species like Sethrak, Arakkoa, etc.

I would like to see as PC races: Vrykul and/or Kyrian
Why: They are humanoid and look cool.

Good for them.

How does Blizzard re-coup their investment on this?

Read what I said more carefully. I said *** IF *** 20% asked. In fact there is no evidence at all that 20% asked for anything because you never see that high a percentage asking in the forums.
