I personally know allot of people that did quite due to it yes.
Got a problem with it?

Then maybe we can do that for goblin demonhunters hehe. I don’t think I have payed attention much to the mechagnomes. Although I think the voice actor for Prince Erazmin sounds like a voice actor from some cartoons.
Honestly, the entire BFA Sylvanas fiasco should be proof positive why TELLING players their backstory is entirely stupid. That removes player choice and creativity, and just railroads to unsatisfactory story telling.
The fact that the DEVS painted themselves into a horrible corner meant Horde (and Alliance) players were rocked with some absurdly atrocious events that were then later glossed over or completely whitewashed because it would have DESTROYED the actual in-character relationships due to the consequences.
Instead, Blizz just sprinkled rosewater over the BFA conclusion and made everyone in the Horde/Alliance hug and make up after their terribly misunderstood waifu had run off.
Blizz, quit punishing players and stifling them over an archaic adherence to bad decision making. What makes sense for a standalone single player strategy game makes far less when dealing with a MMO for player inclusion and creativity.
That would be amusing to hear if it were true lol. Ahh love the goblins and there comedy infused chaotic quests.
Although now that I think about insane, maybe that would be more appropriate for void elf demon hunters.
I have said more than once in this thread I believe they should lift restrictions specifically because the players have proven they don’t care about the setting, lore or RPG aspect
I think that a lot of Blizzard devs would agree with the op. But, what’s happening is that they want to please the majority of subscribers rather than keep the integrity of the fantasy world.
I honestly don’t believe you know anyone who quit WoW specifically because of that and no other reasons. WoW has a host of issues that are reasons to quit, but I just don’t believe anyone quit over a single race getting blonde hair as an option and no other reasons factored into it. The idea of it is absurd.
And even if some did quit over that ridiculous reason and nothing else, how many is “a lot” to you? 4? 5? 10? 20? How does that constitute a significant loss in players? And did you factor in how many may have returned to WoW specifically because Void Elves got blonde hair?
If the idea of anyone returning solely because of blonde hair sounds silly to you, then you can see why I think the idea of anyone leaving solely because of blonde hair sounds silly too.
DrOids? ^^ …transformers
Hmmm… I’d probably go with Frozenbeef, personally.
I agree in principal but that ship sailed long ago.
The lore is dead and inconsistent with itself on a regular basis.
There are already a ton of combinations that make no sense and even some that do make sense and are not present.
The best we can hope for now is fulfilment of the rule of cool and let everyone be everything.
I didn’t read the thread, just the title. You could be right even though I’d like to see any race be any class.
In the very beginning I thought balance would be a great thing, until class identity slowly got stripped out of the game in the name of balance. Now every class is just about the same.
Using the tools of their enemies? Similar to the way Blood Elves have paladins. It’s not because they are all warm and fuzzy; they took the power to use against their foes. Alliance and Horde races have the same potential desires.
harmful.
Im sorry…I cant even read your post after seeing this ridiculous thread title lmao
Not horribly a bad thing depending on how you look at it. Like many cartoons of the 70s, 80s and 90s the overall story had inconsistencies from week to week, but it was never about the destination, it was about the ride. I think that’s been Blizzard’s largest mistake. Oh this will be a cool pay off, and it’s fallen flat.
Worry more about the now, then what’s down the road.
A lot of people don’t. Even those rolling on RP servers are doing so because of the naming restrictions.
And this.
Could’ve been Warlocks, since it was more common for Orcs.
WC3 set an idea for a Horde that redeems itself, but it didn’t progress. Writers began to relativazing the lore, turned into a fetish for genocide and now the Horde is stuck with trying to make awful people look just as good as their victims. Maybe with time, if the Horde had changed, but that’s so far from what actually happened.
When it comes to morals, well, the Horde isn’t that good no matter how they write it.
Like I said, if they’re just opening the door for everyone being everything, then why even have “Classes” at all? The classes are unique and interesting BECAUSE of their history, and that history simply doesn’t gel with every race or culture.
In regards to the “homebrew D&D” thing, like I said before, that’s fine if you’re running in a small group with similarly-minded friends. But there are loads of D&D groups that do things COMPLETELY different; I’ve played in settings where it was literally “just a game” and combat was the focus, and I’ve played in settings where some sessions were literally JUST role-playing/story sessions.
With WoW, Blizzard is effectively tasked with “DM’ing” for the entire playerbase. And the game STARTED with these restrictions for the setting, and people fell in love with it. To change what it a pretty fundamental pillar of the game will no doubt appease a lot of players – but it’s also going to alienate others.
Opening these options just reduces “Classes” to their barest game mechanics. As said, Gnome “Priests” don’t even exist, which makes the combo highly disrespectful towards players who actually ENJOY the history behind Priests. Or Death Knights, they’ve essentially just been reduced to “anyone that’s undead”, despite VERY SPECIFICALLY being “fallen Paladins” in the past.
So… I dunno. To me, removing all restrictions is just kind of an admission of guilt that the Devs are no longer going to take the setting seriously anymore. But maybe we really have arrived at the point where nobody cares anymore? BFA and Shadowlands have certainly done a lot of damage to the Lore, it may be past the point of no return.
I just think the game really loses something, and gains nothing of consequence in return.
Just give Blood Elves all race combinations or at least give Void Elves the ones Blood Elves cant get and let me play the game my way
Cool but you are wrong in this case.
This is what people want:
Big agree with OP.
You should have to play the correct choice (orc) if you want to be a shaman for example instead of an elf.
