This is a passion project for people who have been asking for it for years… no one cares if it becomes the most popular game on the market… as long as I have a server to play on with people to play with I will be playing the game.
Blizzard shouldn’t update the game… because that literally defeats the purpose of recreating it…

Same could be said about OSRS, which started as a passion project.
I dont know how to explain to someone that runescape is straight up trash besides telling them that runescape is trash.
Fortnite is an extremely successful game… perhaps blizzard should follow in the footsteps of Fortnite and change the game to be more similar to fortnite… then it would BLOW UP!
More people playing the game must mean that its a better game RIGHT!?!?!
Hey man, I get it, you don’t like the game. But to say OSRS wasn’t a success, well that just makes you look like an idiot.
Successful relative to what? other browser based games?
the biggest ps left has less than 7k online. thats a pretty tiny market share to be projecting off of
its free, easy to install and pretty close to 1.12.
well i think i have solved for both scenarios.
separate classic tbc. to keep playerbase intact across both games, copy entire character database over to classic tbc and if someone wants to play classic tbc, they can. then connect both games together by global chat tab option only, isolated to same name servers, where you can advertise for more for whatever you need - dungeons, premades, raids, questing partner.
classic+ separate from museum classic, experimental, chromie dropped the temporal discombobulator while it was dialed to classic vanilla era, and now she’s accidentally created an alternate timeline
Not part of the “no changes camp”, nor am I part of the post “we need post NAXX content or TBC NEXT camp”. I started playing Vanilla back when BC was on the horizon. I didn’t hit 60 until WOTLK came out. I played as an Arms warrior night elf, I was one of those players who had no concept of what Tank, DPS or Healer roles were, I rolled on leather gear, I insisted on tanking with a one handed weapon with no shield, I did not understand what threat was, I was bad, but this was still during a time when a lot of players were just as clueless as I was, somehow I still had friends to play with which helped be progress.
Yea, it took me a while to get caught up in WOTLK because I was a super casual player. My time was spent enjoying the experience. I had no clue as to what a raid was other than I though “Professional players raided while the rest of us did dungeons or PVP at most.”
Not sure if it was already covered above,
To those who say Classic will die off if there is no Post Naxx follow up or TBC added:
I suspect if Classic is hugely successful, there will be some fundamental changes made in Retail that will try to recapture some of the satisfaction that so many people will and have derived from Classic game play. I believe a dynamic will be set up where new players will always be getting into classic from retail when those players grow tired of retail and want to try something different. There will also be a brand new generation of players getting into classic that have never touched WoW before.
using private servers as a measuring stick? roflmao
Not good reference material… many holes… much missing.
yes, i said ps should not be used as an argument that classic will hold many players for years. that was my first comment in the thread
plus theres a way to keep the classic expacs connected to classic vanilla without having them be extensions of each other in the traditional sense
you talking to me or the belf?
No they shouldn’t… they also shouldn’t be used as an argument that classic will NOT hold many players for years… you have no idea what will happen, basing your theory off of OSRS and private server populations.
oh i dont think it will hold millions, but thats not because of private servers
i think that because its 2019 and times have changed
Have they? have times changed really? or has the video game industry changed?
yes, both have changed. i mean time is always changing lmao
We have not changed… I still play Jedi Knight Jedi Academy (movie battles 2 mod) and SWG. I still play Phantasy Star Online ep 1/2 on my gamecube… I still play Kotor 1 /2 occasionally. I’m going to play the living crap out of Halo on steam when it finally comes out…
We are very much the same… how they extract money from us has changed.
