Why High Elves Don't Work: A Primer

Good thing there’s more than just stormwind high elves! See silver covenant.

Like I said, it’s not copying a horde race because they’re already part of the alliance.
I would agree with you if high elves didn’t exist and people were requesting blood elves to join the alliance.

As is, people are simply requesting the current (not-blood elf) high elves to be playable.

Again, still NPCs.

It is copying a playable Horde race and making it playable on Alliance.

Correct, which people want to play. Your point?

Except they’re not horde.

Like I said, people are requesting the current high elves (not-blood elf high elves), not the blood elves.
There’s not a single blood elf involved in this.

Blood elves and Void elves are the option. The first only happens to have green eyes, the latter, well, at least it’s more interesting.

Stop ignoring that it is playable in the Horde just because you don’t like it.

You can keep also ignoring the fact that Blood elves of High elves, but no matter what, the fact that the majority of high elves just honor their fallen is not going anywhere.

So you’re against Pandaren in the Alliance because they’re in the Horde?
Or DKs?
Or DHs?
Because that’s you’re saying; along with the usual insults.

That’s you opinion, your opinion should not drive you to deny people a race they want to play, unless you’re spiteful.

I’m not? Blood elves are horde, were requesting the current alliance affiliated high elves.

I’m simply acknowledging that fact. Nothing is ignored here.

I’m not ignoring that.
Doesn’t change the fact that high elves (who still identify as high elves) are alliance, and that’s what people are requesting.

Just because the majority of high elves became blood elves does not invalidate the alliance high elves’ existence, nor does it negate people’s desires to play the current alliance high elves.

Oh good, we’ve entered into the “If you don’t agree with our demands for your stuff you’re horrible greedy people who don’t care about what other people want. Which excuses us as we demand that blizzard ignore the wants of the people who don’t agree with us.” cycle

That would be in your head.
High elves and blood elves are the same race for a design perspective. So yes, you are requesting what is already on the Horde.

Cool, we’re doing this then?
Where we call people spiteful for not agreeing with what you want?
Ever consider that makes you entitled and selfish?

The race is playable through the Horde. Go Horde.

Which is playable on the Horde race already.
I don’t request humans just because of the fog sail.

Wouldn’t say anyone is denying any body anything. It’s just the Nit-picking that both sides do.

If blizz decides to give the Alliance High Elves we have been asking for… then more power to that side. If we never get it, then your arguments have been validated.

Eh, there’s at least one person here doing the the whole “there’s no reason to disagree with us unless you’re a greedy selfish person who wants to make us cry” nonsense.

Which reminds me Ely I’ve always been curious, what would you make if HE’s become playable / why do you like them? If it’s okay to ask lol

I’d cry. Do you really want that, Tarrok?! Well, do you?!

At first, I didn’t really care much for advocating for them, I was good with the “too few” lore stance before, but Void elves really tossed that out the window for me, so here I am. I always liked the SC and the story possibilities of the Sons of Lothar High elves as well. Having another ranger and mage type race doesn’t hurt either. I’d either change my Pally or Hunter to high elf.

-side note- the sons of Lothar high elves would be a great way to add a more battle tested look to high elves.

That’s interesting I have to do more research on that specific group of HEs the sons of lothar. I’m really only knowledgeable on our BE’s heh, and a little bit of SC stuff though I have heard of that group you mentioned and the hinterlands group I think before.

I live for Elf dialogue like Elisandes moment, and Liadrin VS Turalyon didn’t do anything for me heh I wanna see Liadrin fight against a HE! And vice versa, not all the time but if they were added those dialogues would be some of my favorite I think.

And yes it might give me a reason to make a Paladin! I sometimes forget that’s a default assumed class for them, I’m always thinking I’d change my mage or make a new mage, but I have secretly always wanted to try Paladin again (I have one boosted but I can’t get into boosted characters i make) plus I dislike melee so I would have to play it from the beginning to try to really engage and enjoy it heh.

It’s the high elf group that went into the dark portal with Alleria. Too bad they never explored or expanded on what they were going thru when we rendezvoused with them in TBC. After hearing about their former homes, and their kin being aligned with the horde. There was some dialogue of one throwing shade at the blood elves for their magic syphoning. I’d speculate these elves are the ones in the 7th legion, but iam not 100 perfect sure.

same. would love to see liadrin and her blood knights smiting some void elf mutants! lorthemar and halduron hunting alleria, with some farstriders filling those void elves with bushels of arrows between them! rommath and the magisters flat out wrecking umbric and his kind, just blowing stuff up! come on blizzard give it to us, we know its coming! big oof :blue_heart:

See, if they got into those elves, I’d like a story more about their reactions to what had happened while they were stranded. I feel like they’d be torn. On one hand they’ve been fighting alongside the alliance forces against basically orcs since they were stranded there, but then they learn about the tragedy that fell on Silvermoon and there would be the ties of a home and family they had not chosen to turn their backs on as well.

I mean, yes, they basically signed up for a suicide mission, but they managed to survive after success. While they may have been willing to leave that behind to do what they felt needed to be done to save the world, would they still want to turn away from their family and people when they end up able to go back to what they may have felt was lost to them forever?

That is part of the appeal of high elves in general for me. I like the idea of playing a high elf with family aligned with Quel’thalas while she’s aligned with the alliance and also has family on the alliance as well.

I just feel like that they should have told the story of those elves more after BC. To me they feel like they should have been a split, some returning to Silvermoon and some deciding to stay with those they fought alongside (possibly after returning home for some period of time) It kinda feels like a lost opportunity for some good stories.
