Why High Elves Don't Work: A Primer (Part 1)

As you’ve stated that at any time they could just flip the time travel or missing people switch. They’ve had more than a decade to do it. Heck, when they did do it they did it in a way that changed their design, but won’t allow “fair skinned blonde haired elves”.

It was. Void Elves.

Which is why void elves exist

And it can be adjusted again, and again and again infinitely

Unless Covid wipes us all out there’s still time. Maybe another 10 years, maybe 30 :man_shrugging:

Maybe Alliance high elves get time deleted?

I see no reason to tread the Alliance high elf road and clearly the devs don’t either.

Not having done something isn’t proof that something won’t be done

Don’t hold your breath.

I won’t  I’m sort of young (kek) so I have decades to watch as wow unfolds

I think Murlocs will come first though

If you Retcon too much people won’t even be invested in the story if you do it wrong. Some retconning is fine (Especially if it involves time travel, Blizzard please stop time traveling) but you retcon enough and almost everyone loses whatever investment they actually had in the story.

I suspect they’re saving the Silver Covenant for a good guys gone bad bit. With all the light gone wrong stuff we’ve been seeing, the rehashing of the Purge of Dalaran, and them not becoming Void Elves (or altered in some other way, Storm Elves or LF Elves) - I suspect they are being saved for something. Before becoming Blood Elves, those high elves looked down a lot on other races, but the Silver Covenant looks down even on other high elves… for associating with certain races. They’re not what a lot of posters want them to be.

If the Silver Covenant turned against the Alliance and came over to the Horde that would be a way to ‘solve’ the helfer request. Wonder how likely that would be to happen?

The fact that blizz retcons so much only adds to it’s lore being a joke, imo.
Helfers one big point that they try to make all the time is how the lore is so important to them and that’s how they justify getting high elves. So it’s contradictory when they say they want retconning done, or giving void elves high elf skin tones, or want blizz to rewrite their lore.

Hi, Captain Obvious here. It’s evident they don’t desire because…wait for it…they haven’t done it in 15 years.

Also not fix pvp in same 15.
Also take 13 to come up with Classic server.
Also not fix ‘clipping’.
Also not fix guild permi…pemisss…OKIE DOKIE!

Many things not fix; does not mean ‘never’.

then why did you get void elves

same reason you get nightborn.
ALSO take 15 HAH!

youre not getting a clone of blood elves on top of void elves :woman_in_lotus_position:

The interesting thing about this subject, regardless if it makes sense or not, both IC and OOCly, it can literally change with the following expansion.

We’ve seen Blizz taking drastic turns with their lore, or even fabricating situations to catalyze certain plots. With the current mindset, yeah, it might lean more towards the “you won’t get High Elves”, but then, who knows what happens in the next or the following xpac…

Well it does work because we have politically aligned High Elves who identity themselves as Alliance.
