Why has no one created a ToxicityIO addon?

Toxic players would use such a feature to be toxic to players who
aren’t toxic.

Because anyone with half a brain could immediately see the potential for the rampant abuse of such an asinine idea for an addon.

lol, that sounds about right…

I see we could seed the addon with a few names first…

It is a really stupid idea, sorry if you are offended by that.

But to be clear, the idea is idiotic.

You haven’t thought out any of the implications and that is obvious. You also asked for feedback. Really, really dumb idea.

That this would be easily weaponized. Groups could invite people to their runs. Everything can go super smoothly and then the group gives the person a super low rating anyway just for the lawls and now the person has a mark against them that is not even their fault.

Well that tos was because of blacklisting when server rep was important mostly applied to ninja looters and jag offs.

Thank you for not being toxic.

a system like that would just backfire, turn around and hurt the noobs in the end anyway, trust me.

And yet the commendation system in Overwatch, made by a team that sits feet away from the WoW team, works perfectly well and doesn’t obviously harm anyone.

i think that system is horrible and useless personally…

and it’s a little messed up when you lose endorsement levels for leaving, even though your entire team leaves for example.

it’s good to know some people take it seriously though…i’ve seen a couple people with endorsement level 5 before lol but they were always support players :woman_shrugging:

RaiderIO doesn’t quantitatively nail down anything other than a subjective score. Settle down…

Meaning…not using CC, screaming at other players for one common mistake, or blaming someone else for their own mistakes, etc. etc.

Knowing who to CC/Brez/focus, giving constructive criticism (e.g. You did really well at the gauntlet, but your DPS on Kaal is a little low), preventing a wipe by killing the boss solo, etc. etc.

Not remotely comparable. Just on the surface, the Overwatch commendation system doesn’t let you downvote players, only upvote them.

More importantly, all Overwatch matches are put together by a queue system. You can pre-make your group off your friends list, but any spot on your team of 6 that isn’t pre-filled by you is going to be filled by the queue. Group building is largely out of players’ hands, so players can’t be denied spots based on their commendation level or any other metric players might want to pre-judge each other on.

I’ve got Endorsement level 5, and I virtually never talk. I get a lot of “good teammate” votes just for queuing tank or healer in Quick Play, and “good sportsmanship” for not raging in chat in arcade. :stuck_out_tongue:

It just needs to measure objectively how many games they were the first person to leave before the timer expired, if you got stuck and could not kill a boss then you could majority vote to kill the key just like vote kick and you could leave with no penalty and no marks to your record. This is the solution.

Oh god… this would not end well.

The addon API is locked down so tight there’s no networking methods available to ‘push’ data to any non-Blizzard server. The reason RaiderIO works is because Blizzard already collects this information online.

You could make it work if people installed a separate client on their computer that pushed data from the addon, but very unlikely people would do this.

Such addon will be banned by Blizzard on day 1.

Probably won’t get created because the people who dislike toxicity are either far less skilled with addons or just don’t care enough.

If you make an addon or a site like raider IO you probably care enough to do it.

Also it won’t be created because of perceived abuse. For sure it could be abused, but at least from my anecdotal experience it is fairly clear who is a jerk and who isn’t during the run and people tend to not side with the jerk. Sure, give me 15 bad reviews, but the guy giving bad reviews like candy probably has 1500 bad ones himself.

Issues:

  1. It’s basically a name and shame add-on.
  2. Definition of “toxic” is subjective.
  3. Open to abuse in a hilariously obvious way.
  4. Botters would soon be selling your “toxicity” score using their bot army to party up with you and rate you.
  5. Any add-on like this would essentially boil down to being a copy of Noob Blocker. Google it if you’re unfamiliar with what happened to that add-on.

You could theoretically create an addon that tracked something like average number of interrupts/dispels/%group damage taken/CC time/etc.

But that would still require it being run by enough of the community to give accurate data. And then people would have to be able to understand how that applied with different specs and classes.
