Since we are on the topic, FF has too many weebs for my taste.
like WAY too many… I tried playing FF14, I really did, it was pretty good too, but the player base, man, good god the playerbase; they are freaking weird over there.
and I don’t mean your average everyday internet weird I mean like married their anime body pillow kind of weird.
Like wants to move to japan and become an english teacher to pick up chicks, kind of weird.

Way to generalize a player base broheim,never came across anyone of that magnitude playing just peeps who grew up woth the franchise and watch anime once in a blue moon. Will ssy this avout FF, YoshiP is an utter treat and seems like he genuinely has fun with his game of choice. I like WoW but having to try to interpret what demands are actually desired does make it seem the dev team at Blizz are super burnt out.

The one thing I like about WoW’s player base is that they’re grizzled, you can say just about anything jokingly to them. FF14 on the other hand is filled with snowflakes.
Even as someone who enjoys anime (though not a turboweeb) FF14 doesn’t have much appeal to me. If I can’t play WoW for some reason I’d rather just quit MMOs.
It is better in every way except that it is not any fun to play and their cash shop puts Blizzard’s to shame. I just like the giant fat cat mount…
I would say a lack of tolerance for racism, sexism, ableism, and generally disgusting people is an improvement, personally.

Don’t get me wrong, I want other MMOs to do well, because it puts pressure on Blizz to pay some attention instead of signing off on another WOD-style expansion.

For the most part all of that isn’t tolerated here. The one person who says it in trade chat usually gets mass flagged into oblivion and then ignored.

Weirdly, the worst of the bunch seem to congregate on RP servers. Couldn’t tell you the reason. My experience is quite different here than when I go to Stormrage.

Most people who play multiple games will just play those games peacefully.
Ever since I played FFT back in 97, I dreamt of a multiplayer game with those classes. I didn’t know what MMOs were yet at the time or for a long time.
Then when Vagrant Story came out, I was like YES, a multiplayer rpg in Ivalice! Gritty, dark, religious persecution, great story, classes that take insane unlock paths a la tactics ogre!
We got an old school mmo where even the dark tall and brooding race is still cutesy, let alone everything else looks just too…much… and you’re chasing some unobtanium story… I dunno.
If anything, the aspect of FF14 that always trips me up is that the client and account interface is hot garbage ( and it’s gotten better through the years, still garbage)
