I’m a bit shy and I hate having to ask strangers for anything. This is why I prefer to be in an active, busy guild that’s always running things. Just switched to a guild like this and I’m so much happier playing the game now.
LFG is starting the group, or joining existing, works both ways
LFM means you already have at least 1 person, LFM when you are solo is kind of false advertising
I too, and would think many others feel this way.
I won’t do it unless I’m the tank. Because trying to find tanks post-60 rushhour is a pain :<
Fair play to the people that start grps. I join last as a healer, cos 9/10 im not looking for anything specific and it gives more options.
Heals and tanks dont have to start groups. There is always a group made already looking for a healer or tank. Starting a group as a dps is usually a long process, so most people either run with their guilds or join a group thats already started. Its just faster. Not saying I wont start one, i just save it for a last resort.
But when I’m starting a group, I AM looking for more.
woah woah. Don’t expect us Uber Betas’ to start a group, we barely even wanna join one.
Same reason why not everyone will start their own business IRL. It’s easier to just be a pleb employee, path of least resistance etc.
I don’t feel like spamming LFG for an hour looking for a tank
Not sure what language you speaketh but in English “Looking for more” = looking for others to join you “Looking for group” = You wanting to join a group. There is no set standard for LFM there is such for LFG.
There’s nothing wrong with that person. That person has way more initiative than you and doesn’t depend on others to complete the group.
How is LFM when I’m solo false advertising when I’m actively looking for more?
This has nothing to do with initiative. When I played in vanilla (and throughout at least Wrath), LFM was understood as the acronym you used when you had a group already started (meaning at least two players already in party). LFG was understood as the acronym you used to indicate you were solo, and looking either for an already formed group, or to get a group started.
My mistake was in assuming this usage was more broadly understood than it actually is. You do whatever you want, but if you use LFM as a way to trick people into joining you, that’s a crappy move.
I’ve always started groups for dungeons while leveling. Way too many dps looking for the same group.
I’m that person and I’ve always had a group within 5 minutes…
I see LFM a lot in the Looking for Group channel. Make sure you have joined the channel in chat settings.
Never failed me before.
It’s still a crappy thing to do. But hey, whatever floats your boat.
How is it crappy? I also say need tank/heal/dps. Gotta start somewhere though
As a DPS I feel like a jerk asking for both a tank and a healer so I usually don’t start a group unless I start with one of those.
