Honor and Conquest gear was relatively easy to acquire in WoD. So I’m not sure where this mentality comes from where skill is less of a priority over gear.
Same reason i dont play other pvp games !!
In every player vs player games , it will rarely come down to skill or gear or weapon used and more about experience and how many years you’ve put into it alongside how much you’re willing to copy the META .
Stopped liking pvp games the day the internet became too common
Taking away vendors killed it for me. Looks like vendors are coming back in Shadowlands, but the gear you get for queing up for randoms will be totally different from rated. So pretty sure the casual players are just going to be cannon fodder for those that are buying conquest gear from the rated vendor.
I can find more balance in CoD let alone Warcraft.
That’s why I call it Overwatch: World of Warcraft Edition. They really need to get back to their roots where PvP was a subgame like crafting and working the Auction house. Nowadays PvP is thrown in your face , and what they have done with Crafting and the Economy is pure negligence.
I just don’t like getting steamrolled.
I haven’t enjoyed pvp since cata. I’ll admit that I haven’t even tried since the start of mop but I doubt that it has gotten better.
Corruption ruined pvp for me I do love going in and being one shot by XXILLIDAN_NOT_A_CUCKXX and his 60000 damage eye stare that procced 7 different effects that all Overkilled me before i could even pop a cooldown.
I don’t mind world pvp and an occasional random battleground. I cannot just play for pvp alone any more. It’s been a long journey and I’ve come to realize a few things.
- PvP can be just as scripted as pve to an extent. You do this I counter that. You can see how a battle is going to go about a minute into it. *Most of the time.
- Random people are not the way to go. People give up too easily, not everyone there is there to win.
- People hate to lose and die.
- Gear should not have much influence, but I know why it does. Reminds me of the time I destroyed a DK on my rogue once. He didn’t stand a chance as I was pretty well geared and that player was not. I /afk out of the BG after that and just hung out unlocking boxes for people.
- The biggest issue for me is people over all don’t try and give up too easily. I don’t have time for rated so I don’t bother any more.
Oh. I finally tried Arathi Blizzard. Outstanding! Loved it.
My main isn’t a DH or a DK.
There is no purpose to do PvP after you’ve filled your conquest bar for the weekly chest. There would be even less purpose if they didn’t tie good essences into PvP (strife & bote) as an attempt to get more participation in it.
I used to play WoW purely for PvP, and what killed it for me was of course, the removal of vendors. There’s nothing to work towards, no purpose of dumping the time into it. Just another timegated, gutted, lackluster feature of the game.
Such a shame, because it used to be glorious. If reducing it to a sidegame was their purpose, they’ve definitely succeeded. It’s on the same level as transmog farming to me - something to do only when you’re bored.
I’d also like to comment on the general atmosphere and attitude of PvPers; it’s no better or worse than raiders/M+ pushers. In fact, it’s probably better. I’ve had way more toxic experiences in raid pugs than I have ever had in PvP.
That Mistblossom is so true. Is why I also stopped raiding and dungeoning for the most part with BFA. The toxicity and the “lets faceroll through this” attitude.
There is no reward for pvp unless you are in the top 1%
I’m a healer main, priority target #1, trying to keep people alive without any sort of defense against 6 people isn’t fun to me.
Some of us defend our healers. It’s sporadic in world pvp, though, and even more so in PUGs.
Oh, no, I’m not blaming other people, getting swarmed just sucks. Lol. I feel like I’m dead more than helping my teammates.
Yeah, it does. Healers do best when they work in pairs. Then things get…rather obnoxious when you try to take them out
Different people enjoy different things and play the game for different reasons. Some of us stick purely to questing/leveling with maybe an occasional dungeon or raid run. My fun in Wow comes from questing, leveling alts, putting together transmog sets, RP’ing, and collecting mounts and pets.
I run dungeons/raids when it’s required for questlines or when I’m after a particular mount/pet/transmog, but that’s about it. I haven’t enjoyed raiding since all the way back in Wrath.
PVP? I hate it. The ONLY times I’ve ever voluntarily gone into a battleground was when I was after an achievement or when I had to for a quest. I know the snarky default response is ‘well then get good’, but no thank you. I don’t enjoy it, and I don’t find constantly being killed and camped enjoyable. Too many pvp’ers in my experience have a bully mentality anyway. They don’t go after people who can actually fight back, they pick on people they know are easy kills.
I’m so bad at it I’m only helping the other team by taking up a spot for someone better.
Because there are no good PVP gear sets.
