Why doesn't WoW have a physical mage?

It’s more like “I CAST VIBE CHECK.”

We also have

with Lightning Build.

if you want like attacks that have cast time, but are physical, then melee doesn’t really work since enemies can move a lot. That’s why hunter works, if the enemy is 5 or 10 or 15 yards away the cast still finishes and attacks

Bow class that enchants arrows with magic.

All I can think of is Witchers (that have limited magic capabilities but it is magic) and Archer from Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works who is technically a mage who fights with weapons (both ranged and melee) that are all conjured - basically all his weapons are fakes that are 1 level below the originals but he has a nigh unlimited number of them since he can create them at will.

oh, so a shaman!

Not all casters are weak. My warlock is a super buff orc that could crush your skull with his bare hands if you somehow manage to get past my absolute zoo of demons

You made the comparison to avatar. They wield literally the same elements; earth, air, fire and water.

I only made that comparison because of the physical element to their magic. Yes they’re basically shaman thematically, but the way they fight is more like muscle wizard than finger wavy wizard.

I’m only vaguely familiar with avatar, but I never got the sense that benders were magical in theme. Aren’t they all about spiritualism as well? With all the ties to martial arts and whatnot.

Yeah they’re basically powered by elemental spirits, though most people don’t know about that part.

BUT they don’t wave their fingers around and chant spells, they kind of intuitively use their “magic” and adapted it to fighting styles. They’re like sorcerer-shamans.

The way you describe it there sounds way closer to shamans than mages. But really the most appropriate class for what you want be monks. Unfortunately monks are all about the August Celestials and not the elements. Which is kind of a shame. The Celestials are just so specific to the pandaren and their culture that it’s always felt a bit off to be a monk of a different race. I’ve often thought they could do with a bit of a rebrand. Or maybe just downplay the Celestials themselves to focus on what they represent. Because they pretty clearly assigned an element to each of them:
Xuen - air
Chi-Ji - fire
Niuzao - earth
Yu’lon - water

I don’t want a copy of Avatar? I mentioned several times that I was just comparing to the show for the physical aspect of their magic use.

I want something like Red Mage from FFXIV, or Elementalist from GW2, or Runeblade from Maplestory 2, etc.

I thought Enhance Shamans were physical casters really.

They are, but it’s the wrong thematic. They’re basically a different flavor of druid.

Is a pally and a DK the same thing?

Fair enough. I’ve always been a fan of the battlemage type. I think they have more than enough precedent for it in wow lore.

Yeah, it’s a thematic the game doesn’t have.

Thats what i was going to put. They used to be played somewhat at range a long time ago.
