Why doesn't Blizz do 2x XP weekends? Or other Events?

People that are replying on this thread saying you can do 1-120 in 12 hours are oblivious to how real people play the game.

People work, People only play on the weekends, people like to … READ THE QUEST TEXT, take their time enjoy the story of the zone.

You guys are just reporting about what some dude on stream or youtube did and saying thats the state of leveling it is not.

This hurts nobody. There is no reason not do put more events in. Doesn’t have to be 2x XP, just and idea and a lot of other games do (successfully i might add)

I’d argue that is exacerbated by the lack of “leveling rewards.” Leveling isn’t a journey, it’s just an obstacle to the actual game. (In the past, leveling was way more involved – slower, yes, but leveling was actually fun for many reasons.)

It’s like sitting still for 5min. If you feel engaged, 5min goes by pretty fast. If you’re bored, 5min can feel longer than 5min. (“Time flies when you’re having fun.”)

If they make leveling more engaging, it wouldn’t be a chore.

Yes so true. In classic leveling was a playstyle . One of the ways to play WoW.

Now its an obsticle, one the devs are clearly not happy about. I thought double xp would be a nice bandage (again only for 2 days I do not know why people are against this idea). And also bring people back and help people try new classes.

whats not to like? instead we get these toxic responses “Well then people wont buy boosts and blizz wont make money!”

I believe the game devs care about fun not money. Like bobby deal with the money.

They just had a bonus EXP weekend event.

It didn’t go so well…

First off, it’s to 110. And thats a joke to get. I did it in about 8 days. Wasn’t even playing a crazy amount either. It’s mostly pure laziness on lots of people in this game

The problem isn’t the rate of leveling, the problem is leveling is a tedious, unrewarding grind that has lost most of its sense of adventure and progression.

Increasing EXP gains doesn’t solve the issue, it just means you don’t have to deal with the largely unfun grind as long. It doesn’t solve the problem, but is the video game equivalent of throwing a rug over a dirty floor and saying you’ve cleaned up.

There is 100% progression lol. That is such a silly thing to say… especially when it is false

Reread that. I said “lost most of its sense of adventure and progression”, which means that the perception of progression isn’t there.

When it takes 15 levels (stops at 100) to get a new talent, with the odd active sprinkled in (stops at around 80), the sense of progression is greatly reduced. Mobs scale to your level. Even Blizzard acknowledges that the sense of progression in today’s leveling is screwed up.

Also most =! all.

So shorten the grind.

Another toxic response. Sorry we don’t play the game the correct way.

let me get this straight. i tell you how it is and its a toxic response? Come on now…literally all i did was quest. Want that juicy heritage armor? level up the allied race like the rest

Calling people lazy is pretty toxic. This thread was not created to complain about leveling.
I posted in response to Ion’s leveling answer in the Q&A and to provide the devs with the much requested feedback.

And again you “telling it like it is” just comes off a little elitist. But i guess you know how to play better then all of us isnt that right bud

Shortening the grind doesn’t make leveling more fun, the entire way it’s currently set up needs an overhaul.

This is the problem. It’s not the 2xp, it’s the weekend.

If they just said they were halving XP, then, great, super.

Limiting it to the weekend, though, promotes unhealthy behavior.

“Yea, dude, I was up all night leveling my alts!”

They actually don’t want folks to do this.

So, they’ve been removing incentives from folks TO do it.

Levels are a dead mechanic in wow overall. They amount to busy work.
I actually feel bad for new players. Levelling in vanilla, bc, and wrath felt worthwhile. You got new talents. You got new spells. You got new ranks. The numbers got bigger.
The state of leveling now is queueing for dungeons and even without heirlooms, significantly outleveling a zone well before the story is over.

I say, at this point, just remove it entirely. Rescale gear according to what people participate in, and just remove the barriers.

Instantly, all zones are now relevant. People would be shellshocked at first but imagine what it would mean content-wise.

Ah, but how will they sell their precious max-level boosts, then? ~

Sorry but - I just don’t feel like it’s needed. There are already a lot of mechanisms in place to reduce leveling time.

Leveling in WoW is already incredibly short to max level. I see zero reason to have a bonus event of any sort.

How on earth did you manage to come up with this reply based on the OP?

Off topic much? Also - neck levels are REALLY easy. Kind of scratching my head at your post at the moment.

They do not do things that are fun for the players or of benefit for them.

Get a 415 then let’s talk again.

because they are unable to adapt to the current gaming market. They think they own a monopoly on fun but at this point they dont even have a horse in the race

I definitely agree. It’s an insane amount of levels, and I just can’t imagine them doing 130 levels next expansion.

They’d definitely need to do an overhaul, but an overhaul is what’s needed at this point imo. Lore is broken, systems are broken, so I wouldn’t mind them taking some time to just fix everything.
