I’m not sure it does. The difference between the haves and have nots has never been higher then it is now. Some of the corrupted gear accounts for 20%-30% of over all damage and its completly passive, you don’t have to play any diffrent to achieve this.
Any any other expansion (except legion with the possibility of the top end legos) not getting a peice of gear might hurt you buy a couple of percent. This could be mitigated by shuffling gear and learning to play better.
There is nothing I can do but run more content and hope my luck changes. But because I don’t have that luck I find it harder to get into content to run.

Clearly I’ve struck a nerve and hurt your feelers. 
I’m fine with my dysfunction. I own it. I am better at Mechanic’s then I am at dps. I actually follow instructions instead of hugging boss rear, and I use my self heal and run to soak things. Now if I could just get the spreadsheet dps junkies to shutup and stop giving me a complex every raid week over the fact that my dps is just average I would be great!

This thread is utter nonsense. Balance matters at all levels of wow. There are internal and external reasons for performance discrepancies, and as long as you don’t ignore the internal reasons it would be asinine to pretend the external reasons don’t exist.
