I don’t really like hunters, but what you’re saying makes sense.
Overall, gear quality in terms of appearances has fallen significantly since wod/legion era.
Both BFA and Shadowlands have terrible caster sets. Just so ugly.

even more so they should let us you weapon enchantment apperances with bows crossbows and guns it sucks i cant use my covenant’s one i unlocked with my bow
it would look so cool
100% it sucks that even after so many years, hunters can’t apply illusions to our weapons…
I can understand hunters not being allowed to apply illusions to legacy weapons, as the models were not set up to allow illusion appearances (they don’t show up on the models or show up correctly), but the ability to apply to newer weapons should be a thing as devs can simply consider the application of illusions to them from the design stage.
p.s. back during WoD with the garrison enchant building and the addition of illusions to the game, there was a trick to apply illusions to hunter weapons and it did show up on a few of our weapons proving that hunter weapons could support them, but unfortunately Blizzard being Blizzard eventually patched it out once they discovered how hunters were doing it (regardless that it wasn’t harming anyone):

Probably because everyone hates hunters because they do ridiculous amounts of damage for pressing 1 button.
i think you’re confusing hunters with pvp druids or pvp rogues who can kill people in one global, or druids and warlocks who are still topping the pve meters still for months straight…
meanwhile hunters got nerfed immediately after just 1 reset cycle and have fallen significantly compared to the start of the expansion and the current day meters still reflect this:

I don’t agree for two reasons:
Everything should be varied to avoid formulaic design choices. (I feel Blizzard does an excellent job in this regard.)
Bows are only used by one class so they are significantly less used and therefore needed.
I have two hunters, and I’ll say finding mogs for them was ridiculously easy, there were plenty of steampunk guns until I got the Supervolt Zapper (which will remain my mechagnome’s weapon forever). I recall getting a jade looking bow pretty quickly on my troll that I used for a long time too.
Some of us remember when hunters needed almost every type of weapon, ranged and up to 2 melee. It was okay I guess, not really as fun as it probably sounds. One of the things I enjoy about hunter is I know if I get a weapon it’ll be something I can use, try getting an offhand when you needed a weapon, or a staff when you just bought a boss shield. Hunters for the most part have it easy.
You get pets dude. More customization there than any weapons
I doubt hunters are the most popular anymore. They basically eliminated an entire spec in Legion.
Firstly, BM hasn’t been relevant at all for a while. So MM do not get to use a pet otherwise they’ll take a significant dps loss (up to 10%) as MM lose their Lone Wolf buff if they call out a pet. So due to this, they only call out a pet for a hot minute if needed/required (i.e. lust) then immediately dismiss them.
Also you’re neglecting that ~95%+ of hunter pets are stuck in the stables currently and/or not worth taming in the first place… If you noticed, the pets hunters are forced to use in SL, it’s literally a few handful of pets. A ferocity lust pet for M+ if lust is needed (and only gets called out when lust is needed, dismissed between), a clefthoof or similar tank pet for solo content (i.e. torghast), or a spirit beast if you’re dumb and are still playing BM for some reason.
Personally I have ~100 pets in my stables, and countless more pets i wish i could tame and use, but 98 of the pets in my stables have not seen the light of day since Legion/BFA. Not since blizzard made the detrimental change to forcing hunter pets into certain specializations (ferocity, cunning, or tenacity) for BFA, rather than allowing hunters the ability to change their pet’s specialization, which allowed hunters to use more of their favorite pets or make a more cosmetic choices in pets.
Complain more. I spent all last expansion complaining about shields and I must say they def increased the number of options and the number of drops we get in SL.
Ha nice try, but i only have a single weapon and you can have a single pet. Youre choosing to be a meta slave using bis pets. Go and be free my friend and use what you want.
Its already perfectly balanced. As all thing should be.
if i dare to say I don’t have a hero pet when invited specifically for hero. i’d get kicked asap from the group.
…Or maybe i’m doing rated arena and now i can’t free myself or my arena partner from a root because i decided to use a pet that does not have master’s call to break roots, resulting in being unable to help my partner across the map or getting killed due to being unable to escape enemy players.
or maybe i’m doing Twisting Corridors layer 8 and instead of using a tank pet, i use my favorite pet instead and it gets oneshot by virtually every mob (including mawrats) then those mobs proceed to aggro on me instead and pound my a**.
Excuses satisfy those who make them.
Run with a grp that doesnt need hunters lust
Run arena with a pally for BoF
Understood but oh well its just game, win some/lose some. Play how you wanna play. Follow meta dont follow meta.
says the kyrian paladin using righteous fury legendary and talents that every build guide/sim says to use.
Eh but you see i enjoy that play style. If i didnt i wouldnt use it :). I use sub optimal leggos on my resto druid because it fights better for what i do
Edit i also think holy shield is preferable for the magic blocking but i dont use that
If warriors and rogues still used ranged weapons, that’d be fine, but as it stands, only two specs use them.
Ranged weapons are loot table clutter for the vast majority of classes and specs - putting them in makes an insignificant portion of the playerbase happy at the cost of everyone else’s time and effort. Thus, they’re worst than wasted on literally everyone else. Hunters may be popular, but they’re not that popular.
Or important.
the same can be stated for daggers, maces, or staves for numerous classes that cant use or transmog these, yet they are still abundant.
Hell even fist weapons and warglaves are more abundant drops and those are very restrictive weapons as well.
