There’s not an infinite number of opinions to be had on wow. It boils down to you either like something in the game or you don’t.
I did play the game. I was hyped for SL when it dropped. Playing the game made me see how much I dislike being told “oh if you want power that really should be tied to character talents, go farm conduits, choose a covenant, go farm torghast”. I hated it. I didn’t need anyone to tell me “you should hate this”.
Are there people that just parrot? Yes. I just don’t think every single statement made on the forums should include “for me” or “IMO” or “I think/feel”. It’s redundant. Most things said here are opinions.
I thought we were suppose to hate everything.
I don’t hate them, I just think the vast majority of them farm clicks. There are really good creators out there, but I feel like the really big ones are just click mongers.
Also the content I care about seems to be much less popular than lore videos, news updates, or tier lists.
if it works, I can’t blame them to do it.
I personally enjoy watching streams and find that most of the reasons people here hate streamers to be conjecture.
Like when they go and play another game for a bit. Something that most gamers do. Omg now they hate WoW. And let’s be honest, a lot of people decided to leave for a bit when the details of the lawsuit were revealed. Streamer or not.
For others, content droughts have left people looking for entertainment elsewhere. I’ve played both FFXIV and WoW for years now. Long before a larger population left to go try it. I’ve played many other games as well.
Taking breaks are more common than some here will ever know. And has been a thing long before streamers and Twitch were popular.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely on team “get that bag.” It’s just content I don’t find interesting.
They are annoying. They are fake. They think they are better than everyone else when half of them get carried through everything. A lot of their fans are cringe worthy brainless zombies.
This is why people don’t like streamers. They have immense social power and sometimes they give horrible takes and you see people say making 18M gold in game legit doesn’t take effort / skill cause a streamer said the same thing. This is fundamentally false. Gold farming is both a function of time and skill. It is why Limit, Echo, Snutz, etc. all make tons of gold, cause they are really good at the game.
Sometimes streamers say good things and opinions I agree with as well. However, I think these opinions would be better coming from the community vs a dude with a megaphone. All in all, if you like watching people play video games, by all means. It doesn’t mean everyone has to like them or care about twitch.
I heard in Asmongold’s stream that this kind of thing happens very often. The companies including blizzard will pay these streamers to play their game to get advertisement. The streamers are getting paid twice, both from the company and their viewers.
Streaming has become so fake it’s unreal
I have never and will never watch a streamer. I see soo many posts in the forums going “X streamer said x class is bad so x class must be bad”. No. Form your own opinion instead of some random person that doesnt care about anything unless its views or donations. Sooo many people are easily influenced by what a streamer says, its disgusting.
I hate YouTubers for sure (except Dunkey) - and I don’t watch them.
Why subject yourself to something that makes you froth at the mouth?
Oh yeah, First World Boredom.
But can you even trust him? He could be trying to kill off competition!

A lot of the mainstream popular streamers just seem to be surrounded by childish drama.
You can tell a lot of them never actually had to work real jobs and grow up, the twitch streamer community seems like an absurdly cringe extension of highschool.
I feel like the real world is a lot like high school more than people care to admit
Honestly Luc, I think you’re only seeing the negative parts of the community, they do tend to be the most vocal. These streamers wouldn’t have a job if people didn’t love them.
While I agree they are using an appeal to authority to justify opinions, sometimes it isn’t an opinion and the statement is backed by data. But if the differences relate to subjective topics such as what is “fun,” then of course it’ll be pretty irrelevant. I think a lot of streamers would prefer to work from home than the jobs they worked RL though. Bahjeera, Asmon (no longer IRS), and many others. Its a trade off of liabilities and exposure tbh. Being a streamer is a lot more intense because of the crowds that follow them. The more people involved, the higher the probability someone will try to come after you via legal litigation or with tort law (depending on streamer.) That is the case even for some news reporters who are ddos’d/swatted and provide content online.
Well I did say in my topic title “majority of people on this forum”…
My world has been nothing like high-school since I finished college.
