Why does the general WoW player base hate PvP?

can’t say much for other people. But I dont pvp because

  1. I dont like pvp
  2. I’m bad at it

It’s kind of like chess if you first had to make the chess board and then people could still play with more pieces than you.

It has it’s place, and I’ll do low end BG’s from time to time and enjoy myself, but the game just plays too sloppy and unbalanced to be a competitive PvP platform.

PvP is not fun and I will never do it unless forced into for something like a legendary cloak.

Just a guess, but a major factor might be because people who want to have a primary focus on PVP play other games?

I’m just not a huge fan of all the jumping around in pvp

I do like PvP. But, I think WoW has one of the worst PvP scenes so I don’t blame anyone that doesn’t like it at all.

Well first you have to take anything you see on Reddit with the proverbial grain of salt. But if it is a low number maybe because there are other games especially designed to be PvP games where as PvP in WoW is just one part of the game.

I don’t play this game to compete with anyone else. I play this game to enjoy it. If you enjoy PvP, then good. I’m happy for you. For me, there is so much more to do in WoW than proving to another human being that I am better at playing a video game than they are.

It’s the same old rehashed stuff since MoP. The gameplay essentially hasn’t changed much in a decade. Balance tuning was neglected in BFA and a lot of people quit early on. I think the main thing is that the PvP community just got sick of blizzard not listening to them and after a while players just move on to other PvP games.

I knew I wasn’t a raider back in the old days. I got into PVP and I’m terrible at it. Always have been. I knew I could get items from it so I continued with it. Some where along the way I got a bunch of kills.
He did not care anymore. Life and death the same. Only the that crowd would be there to greet him with howls of lust and fury and that he could get … like cool weapons and armor and stuff.

Even as a PvP’er I can’t agree with this.

I find those people hilarious. Do they think I’m physically aiming at them? Especially when they keep bouncing after I’ve already targeted and am hitting them.

Pvp is the only mode where other players have more control of your character than you do.

It’s pure misery. I still do it, but I understand why normal people don’t.

That sounds accurate to me. I don’t usually do rated pvp, that doesn’t mean I hate it. I really love it right now when I can get all the gear and enjoy random bgs without doing rated pvp. I’m doing a little right now because I like how fast solo shuffle gives conquest.

If people want quality PvP they don’t think ‘huh, I should try an MMO’. But they like MMOs, are invested, or in denial so they come to an MMO anyway and try the pvp then are mad when it’s lackluster, like it is in basically every MMO compared to dedicated pvp games.

Meh. I got a short temper so its just not a fun situation to be in for me

Usually, jumping is useful in pvp (and in M+ or raiding too) because you can keep moving the same way while getting casts out at the person. You need to be facing them to cast damaging spells for example, but you can still be running away if you jump and turn into them to cast (and turn back to keep running).

WoW PvP died during MOP because more skill based games like LoL and CSGO absorbed most of the player base that was interested in it. Nowadays the game is so poorly designed for PVP with gear inflation/dampening and other band-aid mechanics that it feels like a total waste of effort.

I get it. Its just when you’re new, its not fun to just have someone jump around you and barely giving you anytime to practice.

Its a me thing. I know.

That’s perfectly fair. It also feels weird when people are jumping around you, it’s just not something that anyone would really expect. For me, it’s funny to think of the chronic jumpers as bunny opponents  cute lil bouncing bebes

Also, if they jump around/behind you to stop your casts, you can press down the right clicker on the mouse and move the mouse to get your cast back to them by the time the cast finishes. You might already know this but putting here in case it’s helpful to anyone.

I don’t understand. PvP doesn’t require a huge number of new zones and dungeons, that’s rather a small amount of the concern. PvP requires new game systems, and hasn’t Blizzard been doing that? Solo shuffle, rated battlegrounds? They’re always adding something new and new rules. How to say Blizzard doesn’t care? Of course they do.

Now, I totally get it if serious players want more attention, more systems, more resources, but Blizzard does give you new seasons and new systems and new rewards with a fairly high frequency. The status and monitoring of these systems actually tax their ability to provide fair ratings and fair matches more than a new raid does.

So what is it really? Why does the player base hate it? Probably due to extreme tuning and balance, unique gearing requirements, and the heavy dose of testosterone given off in the levels of competition. The ratings and matching systems employed with the rating system – are rough.

So that’s why I figure the populace doesn’t love PvP. It’s something to do, but it’s very different from the raiding experience or M+.

Most of us have some old love stories about some battlegrounds we PLAYED in, but now, PvP is pretty serious business, and it’s not exactly welcoming.

Which is a problem. Where is WoW going to get it’s replacement players if it wants to continue for a few more years?
