looks more like more bfa with less choices, all the things we fought to get interchangeable in bfa are now hardcoded into covenants … i guess legos are better? probably? they look decently implemented … and torghast is fun, but I can see it becoming islands 2.0 if they dont find a way to keep it fresh
Legion was filled with fanservicey things top to bottom. It was great after Warlords and it’s definitely not what’s happening in Shadowlands. They aren’t killing Sylvanas right off the bat despite people wanting it. They aren’t showing Arthas’ redemption arc right off the bat. They aren’t actually returning old abilities people wanted despite tryna push that as a big thing. There’s almost no fanservicey things at all.
What’s wrong with an Action RPG?
As someone who’s been AFK in a capital city 90% of the time, I could say there are there who mere forget this merely a videogame and not some social media platform.
I enjoy the pve content and completely indifferent to what the Raiding and Mythic+ community.
From what I can observe, the Raiding community is trying so hard to have new players that enters the game to see them as a cult of toxic individuals; who takes the game far too seriously.
Meaning what exactly? The root of the game was gate keeping not by rental systems, but by hard gear checks. Imagine the player base of today not being able to step foot in a raid until years after it released due to gear checks and multi-tiered raids. That was the root game that you’re talking about.
Don’t get me wrong, I am down AF
But players too soft for that.
WOW will not go back to its roots until its eclipsed by another hardcore MMO
As one who played During WotlK, they are speaking about the Return of the players starting monopolies on what you can or cannot do in wow, the return of Ninja Looters, as well as Dungeon Kick abuse being more meaningful.
Primarily more freedom to bully newer and inexperienced players, as well as their own systems which is much like a catch#22 when it comes to progression.
I’ve honestly seen this pattern before, when they think that there was no way for players to progress by themselves, they begin to ridicule and bully those of a lesser item level, as well as mock those for playing the game for fun.
It doesn’t to me.
BFA was all the mistakes of Legion recycled. (AP, artifact powers, mandatory legendaries)
And Legion was… basically garrisons but even less interesting, plus terrible loaner arifacts.
Shadowlands seems to be doing its own thing.
Legion had me interested in the expansion, Systemlands does not…
When the action RPG overrides MMORPG that is a big problem and challenge for the devs. It ends up being a situation where no one is happy.
Do you have an alternate idea which would keep the casual community to continue playing the game?
You can’t knockoff your own product.
That said, legion was great. I’d play more legion.
They’re reworking conduits.
Follow FF14, GW2 and ESO steps. Keep the mmorpg elements alive and not turn it into some Diablo that happens to have certain concepts of a mmorpg. Shadowlands is turning out to be a mix of that.
Shadowlands is a rip off of Shadowbringers. Blizzard’s creatively bankrupt except when it comes to woke political statements so they just copy what other MMO’s are doing.
Considering FFXIV14 did copy some of WoW stuff. I see no problem in this one.
they are bringing back more abilities, ie unpruning.
also bfa was way better than legion…
legion was unplayable.
if they unprun more classes the game will be much better.
so i dunno…but at least bfa was a step in the right direction. so i guess i can’t say i am unhappy…not that either was great. just we seem to be moving in the right direction
Whatever hype I had has been completely negated by doubling down on more borrowed power junk.
It doesn’t matter what it is, it’s not going to be exciting knowing it’s going straight to the dumpster next xpac.
I think all of us have to admit that Legion ‘did too much.’ Even Ion admitted that at the start of BfA.
That said, Ion needs to stop with the ideology that borrowed power is the future because a lot of classes were redesigned to fit around those systems (shadow priest and demonology warlock are prime examples). So it shouldnt be a shocker to them that classes reconfiged for those systems end up bottom of the pile when the systems are gone.
Blizzard, please go back to designing classes that have persistence past an expansion (heck some cant even get through a patch cycle anymore).
From what i have heard and seen so far, I feel like shadowlands has a chance to surpass bfa as the best WoW expansion
/Ha ha… We’re in danger…
