I’ll be honest, if the things that have them walking on eggshells are at the expense of minorities or approaching hateful, better they walk on eggshells.

Regardless of what anyone says in chat, an organized group of people can silence anyone at will due to how the system is set up. Someone can be silenced for saying “Hi”.

Chatting involves not playing, usually. I can’t comfortably type to people mid-encounter.
Then there’s most voiceless content not really requiring communication.
I agree OP. Similar issues on Thrall for me. Some of the main cities be popping some days, but normal zones and what not seem dead. I miss “world chat” from other games…
Hell, I barely run into people. I imagine I am behind the large player base though, just got into zone 2 in DF.
The problem is, your definition of hateful is subjective.
And why is your first thought of somebody walking on egg shells is that they want to racist or hateful?
The people that want to be racist and hateful just do it, regardless.
Because it’s what I’ve seen in the past. The ones that don’t care, like one that popped up and slurred/threatened in the forums last night, can and will do it anyway, but if it gets a few to stop and think for a second, it’s somewhat good.
It gets over half the playerbase to not want to communicate with eachother in parties.
Introvert is the word you are looking for.
Same. I never run group content without at least TRYING to talk and have fun with my temporary teammates.

I’m going to be completely honest here, and say that if it’s stopping them from saying something, then what they’re about to say just might have to do with why - equally as possible as chat report abuse.
Probably this. If people could recognize a hobby for what it is …joking around having fun , relaxing. Probably a lot more social interaction would happen in voice and chat.
But our society as a whole is like a perpetual teenager full of insecurities. Everything is offensive, there is little humor.

Introvert is a term some people avoid because it has been co-opted by attention seekers that think they have a disorder for being nervous in situations where it’s perfectly normal to be nervous.

Who said anything about posting racial slurs? The leftist posters here are the only ones I’ve seen here bring it up and frankly it’s just a cop out argument for wanting to censor people.
