Lmao sure thing, I will get it but only tell you 11 years later.
If you don’t care about progression, why are you playing a game that is literally about character progression. It makes no sense.
When you throw PvP into any game, that PvP has to be based off the genre of the game and follow through with the systems in it. World of Warcraft is creating a character, leveling it, and gearing it. You build your character up and watch them grow stronger, any skill discrepancies can be filled in with gear or different stat setup.
Sounds like this game isn’t for you buddy.
It’s not, I am a fighting game player.
However gear used to not be an issue for me back in the day from Wrath to WoD. Did not mind the progression then
That’s because it will take you 11 years
Did it take you 11 years to get 1700 XD
I’ll tell you why. It’s a nod to an age old RPG conundrum: "How would an unarmed monk fight a huge ancient F*** OFF Dragon? The answer: “Not Very Well.”
How will a newly rolled character (tho played by an exceptionally skilled) PVP player fare against a player that invests a lot of time in the game? Again, the answer should be “Not Very Well”. Skill SHOULD matter. But time investment should as well. Gear has always been and will always be a needed barrier to entry for any type of content. Meeting that threshold keeps the game interesting.
And before anyone says “But … PVP … and … opponent in mythic raid gear or M+ gear … !!!” This is why the devs are returning to the idea of a PVP exclusive stat in SL and as much as I’m going to hate having to carry around multiple sets of gear, I still applaud that particular change.
I guess vanilla, bc, and wrath were bad.
There doesn’t need to be a pvp stat. PvP just needs to reward competitive gear at the correct pacing.
No damn it I did it 11 years ago
There are problems with that too. People start honor buddy afking until they have the gear. Others complain about pvp gear being “welfare epix” or that gear rains from the sky and has no meaning.
The balance between mains vs. alts or one-tricks vs. fotm re-rollers/ alt armies gets skewed.
There is no system that will please everyone. Best we can hope for is a reasonable compromise.
I’m going to stop you right there. I want you to do something for me. Check my gear profile. You clearly do PVP. Anyone can tell by your gear. Look at mine. I do some PVP? But mainly I do Heroic raiding and M+. Would you want to try and tackle me in PVP before the prepatch? Not to sell you short, but I don’t think it would be fair in any sense. This is why PVP stats are a good thing, they offset people who just happen to have a raiding guild to get them higher item level gear. It helps keep the game competitive.
I am not sure what you mean. I outgear you considerably on my warrior. My alt hunter and priest out-gear you as well. I wear pieces from both pvp and pve on each of my characters.
Debatable. This game was originally designed with no pvp stats. One was added in BC, but was done poorly because it unfairly punished crit based specs and led to some yikes mana drain gameplay.
Every system has it’s positives and negatives. No one will agree on what the game should be.
Damn bro ur leet!
Honor rank cap? EZ!
2400 rating? Kids stuff!
It’s all about getting that [Wrecking Ball] as a Rouge! Top tier PvP dude!
Gear gaps weren’t 300% My honor geared lock could 1vs2 naxx geared players.
Then moderate your game?
I don’t doubt it. I was comparing my hunter to the shaman you’re posting on. If you want to make the argument that there shouldn’t be a PVP stat, then I would have an advantage based purely on doing content irrelvant to PVP.
I assume you’re talking about the old Resilience stat. Yes, it was done poorly. The idea has been iterated on quite a bit over the years: PVP power, Versatility. I’d like to see the devs finally nail it so the PVP community would have something to call their own. Something they could take pride in apart from just another transmog set to collect.
This does not mean what you think it does. There are many players that achieved hwl or cleared raid content that could not actually play their way out of a wet paper bag. Vanilla was that easy.
You understand that you can still google videos of good players in high end gear destroying players in vanilla, bc and wrath with little to no actual counter-play right?
Compared to who? Heroic raiding is about the equivalent of 1600 rated pvp. They should reward the same gear.
Why arbitrarily gate content? Why not add a pve stat so pver’s don’t have to pvp?
Hitting a NPC target dummy while jumping through mechanic “hoops” isn’t the same thing as trying to outthink and outplay others in duels, arenas, etc. I think investment in one mode of play should yield gear appropriate to that play mode.
All content but entry level is gated anyway? It’s gated via the stats your character recieves from upgraded gear and levels. Otherwise you wouldn’t even need to level. A PVE stat isn’t required because you can just run LFR or normal mode and have a leg up on anyone in PVP blues with respect to item level.
because its never been about skill its always been about getting that upgrade and going out and smacking people harder that was the fun part of pvp and when you homogenize gear that goes away
Thank you for acknowledging my greatness
It took you long enough but you got there
It does, there was nothing better than having a full gladiators set and jumping into a casual bg and 1v7ing people.
PVP used to be as big a part of the games as pve, they treated it like how cod treats multiplayer. Until a class design troll, pve only player joined up at the end of wrath, got pissed at resil gear players ganking his raid group, and steered us into no pvp.
If you played bc-wrath half the playerbase was full pvp gear.
