Why Does Blizzard Queue You With People That Speak Other Languages?

I never understood why Blizzard queues us with people that we are incapable of communicating with. Isn’t a core part of an MMO the ability to communicate? Why doesn’t Blizzard place a language filter on instances so you can get a team of people that you can talk to that will for sure understand what you are saying? I’ve seen a lot of people speaking other languages in RBGs and because no one knows what anyone else is saying the ability to collaborate is no longer there.

So…you want blizzard to run some sort of language test? Perhaps you think people can only speak the language the have as their preferred language in the client?

The problem is, IMHO perhaps, that Blizzard does not provide a universal translation feature of common phrases and words to facilitate easier communication. FFS FFXI had a really good system that handled this very thing. It would be even easier now given how much faster and more accessible translation tech is.

Hvad snakker du om? For helvede, gris.

Because you share a datacenter with people who speak other languages.

How would we even stop this? Checking client language? Sometimes I set my client to German, because it is a language I’m learning and it can be a nifty way to help work on my skills. Should I then be locked out of literally all NA group content unless some other weirdo does the same?

I’ve been greeting people in leveling dungeons, and surprisingly they’ll chat.

I’m a tank and lazy though, so i have a macro to say hi

This is such an American thread. I grew up in northern Europe and it was like… A given that you might have 3-4 languages around you all the time.

At no point in my childhood was i like: “UGH why are Norwegians allowed at this park if they don’t speak Danish?!?!?! Shouldn’t they be in a norwegian park for that???”

I think a better idea would be having the chat Auto translate into your preferred language.

Yeah that’d be great.

That’s a different situation that’s not directly relatable to this. In this specific situation I’m talking about how when you’re in an instance and you’re calling something out in chat and talking strategically if someone is unable to understand your language they will not be able to follow directions and will end up lost, confused, or just not able to contribute to the team’s efforts.

I’m all for other people that speak different languages playing the game. I just don’t Blizzard has a realistic expectation in asking it’s customers to become fluent in new languages in order to effectively use the product.

It’s like if the new iPhone was released but Apple just locked it to Arabic and said well that’s that.

This 100%.

ERM. I think I understand OP’s but I don’t its as exclusionary as some are saying not as difficult as others are implying. It would take two things: a check box of “Connect you with “Language” players?” (“Language” being the language your install is in) Check the box and a server will collate that language installs as the ones to pull for queuing. Might, probably, would mean longer cue times but you can always uncheck it knowing youcould be paired with other languages.

Because if you had to coordinate a tactical assault with them with complicated directions and instructions, you’d be very much out of luck.

Your example is very bad.

Your example is an open environment in which you’re not forced to cooperate with people you can’t understand or communicate with.

Представьте, если бы он жил в Европе. Все говорят на разных языках.

Type “Pull them around the corner and we’ll kill them over here” Party sees “Walk to edge and we’ll die them down here.”

Everyone is mushed together for queue times. They said that years ago. If they split the realms the NA wouldn’t notice, but the not NAs would have insane wait times.
