They’re probably the 2nd most relevant alliance race. Blame your fellow members’ human potential.
But really, the Prelaunch event for bfa was focused on Night elves. You also got your own x.x.5 patch with some unique customization as well as Night elf themed armor and weapons for xmog
Valsharah and Emerald Nightmare raid was Night Elf focused and they were also prominent in the Suramar campaign. Not to mention demon hunters is a Night Elf thing. Illidan was the star of most of legion and even maiev and the wardens had decent roles to play.
Cata you had Mt hyjal and firelands.
“Oh but valsharah story was so bad/cringy”
“oh we lost our capital”
etc etc
Hate to break it to you but playing a role in the story means being the victims of bad writing. You should honestly count yourself lucky. None of your major characters have died.
Horde has had 3 of our capitals attacked we lose at least one major character an xpac these days. We’ve lost 3 leaders in this xpac alone if you count Sylvanas being MIA. Yeah horde has gotten a lot more attention than alliance overall but that means we’re forced to play out this bad plot.
The only alliance race that has had more time in the spotlight than Night Elves is Humans, and let’s face it, in the end Orcs and Humans will always have the most time in the limelight (at least in their faction).
In fact for BfA I’d say the amount of focus Night Elves have had is almost as much as the humans have.
Be careful what you wish for cause if you want to have a part in this story you have to be ready to take your lumps. Your villainizing, leader killing lumps.
Edit: wait 4 times for horde capitals being attacked in wow. Forgot about wrathgate undercity battle
And for this reason the Alliance might finally get their story this expansion. Night Elves are the sacrificial catalyst in this goal, at least enjoy you have a purpose.
The real reason why Night Elves get shat on so much is the same reason the draenei get shat on so much: If they didn’t people might actually realize Blizzard is ****ing awful at writing.
Night Elves have 3 major powerhouses, now down to 2 that can solve entire wars if they aren’t actively nerfed into the ground, (those being Tyrande and Malfurion, if we had actual warcraft 3 Malfurion and not… This.)
Sylvanas as an antagonist doesn’t work whenever you have two people that she goes after first who could blink her out of existence. Only the writers blinked them out of existence because “lol we gotta have this plot.”
Tl;dr, if they didn’t get shafted there would be no basis for a s***ty expansion and Blizzard would lose money and that would make the investors q.q because Blizzards needs all the money, regardless of how much they shaft their own world, story, mechanics, core gameplay loops, community, self respect, credibility, etc.
So no, she spared him, then Teldrassil burned, then Tyrande personally blamed Saurfang for all of it (and herself for sparing him). Considering he hired the rogues that slit the Night Elves throats he had more than his fair share of blame.
Because those DHs, Wardens etc are all Darnassian Elves?
This is LITERALLY yet to be seen. There have been ample moments for Blizz to bring back NEs in this flavour and Blizzard has totally shied away from it. When it has been FITTING for there to be NE presence, there is little or none.
So I’ll give you the point when it actually happens, and not based on some cute conjecture.
I’ll spell it out a bit: Gnomeregan wasn’t taken away. Teldrassil canonically has been. It existed in-game, then it was gone. The stage for Gnomeregan in WoW has always been as it is - with several in-game attempts to retake it.
Scary I have to spell this stuff out.
One zone. Has nothing to do with the Night Elf State. Furthermore, they had ZERO interaction with Illidan. This would have been PERFECT opportunity to have some racial and character development and Blizzard ignored it.
Not sure how much evidence I have to lay at your feet.
Cuz Varimathras is a town-guard level mob. Because there is no logical in-between here, you know, like distributing the HP between the two leaders or tweaking the boss fight mechanics?
They have us in a position horde/forsaken has been. And even worse…we are looking to be the bad guys on the side of the good guys.
Anduin is about to kiss and make up. Again.
We are still in a pumpkin patch.
We have no word the horde will leave our lands. And with Anduin hope of any reasonable reparations for what was done a pipe dream.
And we have to say Yay!!!
Nope. Our course is clear. fix the cycle they are trying to break. Hence we get to be the bad guys. Which is fine but the current 2 faction doesn’t support this. We will have to bow down to a male and female human (since Jaina has clout) who have no right to be in our business in the first place.
There is night elf business to address. Its an A to B situation. Humans can C… their way out.
It really just comes down to money lol because if the NE get shafted enough we can make another xpac about a stupid conflict that could have been easily avoided if anyone was remotely smart and give MORE of our money to Activision-Blizzard.
Then we can have MORE allied races of slightly different tinged night elves and throw let’s see now… wait are you really telling me these f***ing expansions are $50 still? Jesus Christ no wonder people complain so much about BFA and no wonder why Acitivision-Blizzard really doesn’t care how much people complain about their lore being stupid.
