If Tyrande/Malfurion are 10000 years old, Anduin’s 18 years old is 0.18% of their lives.
Basically, his entire life is equivalent to about a week and a half of their life.
The situation is even worse for Velen. If Velen’s 25000 years were just 100 years, Anduin’s entire life is 3 days. Compared to all their lives, Anduin is basically a newborn.
I don’t! Unless he or one of his many flunkies offers me gold or gear, of course…then again, while I am a Night Elf I am also a Murder Hobo, so there’s that.
They recently showed that Velen and the rest of the Draenei only left Argus a few hundred to a few thousand years ago. Even though those events take place 25,000 years ago on Argus, travel through the Twisting Nether apparently does strange things with time. Sort of like Turalyon has been fighting with the Army of the Light for 1000 years but has only been missing from Azeroth for about 30 and when Alleria and He got seperated, she was away from him for a thousand years of her time.
Oh I almost forgot, we got a vision of the future where an old man version of Anduin was leading the Army of the Light fighting the Legion still.
You can’t eat wounded pride. You can’t clothe your children in vengeance. You can’t till the soil with bloodlust.
The night elves need to take this opportunity - hard-won though it has been - to tend to their next generation or there will be no next generation. They need to rebuild, or they will be gone and forgotten. Shandris knows this. Tyrande has turned into another Maiev (which makes it truly unfortunate that we’re still not rid of the original) bent only on revenge, no matter who it hurts.
(As for Velen, he views the one thing he’s presided over - the exodus of the draenei - as, at best, a Pyrrhic victory that took tens of thousands of years to make right. He has never forgiven himself for leaving the bulk of his people to the Legion just to save a few. He’s in no fit state to lead and he knows it.)
Tyrande and Malfurion should be leading the Alliance. With thousands of years of experience, Anduin’s outlook on warfare and diplomacy must seem infantile to them.
Tyrande could very take control of the Alliance just by appealing to public sentiment. After all it’s not just the Night Elves who lost people in the war, there’s entire families, even farmers who have no business fighting wars, who have died.
If Blizzard took their writing to its logical conclusion, Anduin should be hated by most of the Alliance.
What if Night Elves have been alive too long to have children? In the Witcher series they show that, though elves can live for centuries, they are only fertile for their first century or so. I don’t think I have seen any elven children born other than Vareesa’s half-human sons.
In traditional (IE Gygaxian) fantasy, the only elves with birth rates close to human-normal are drow only because drow have extremely high mortality rates.
as a PC…we have too. No listen no gameplay lol. Same for my horde up to this point. Yep…lets go see nathanos. Blood elf, forget more than this dipstick has ever known…yeah, lets just get the job done and drown my sorrows at the bar after.
For now…
They really need to make him do something to rate the spot. And soon. See his old man I liked.
200 ships at my command and I lose the 1 with my son.
And then he gets fired up and its game on. Dude had some fire to him. well that and his dipstick son wanders off all the time in MoP. Sometimes I thought it be just nice to knock his butt out, sling him over the shoulder carry him.
Here you go king. I had to sap him in the head, sorry, dude just kept trying to get away. So…I knocked his butt out and here you go. gold, xp, and some crap item I will sell to a vendor 5 levels from now please.
Because the high king concept is basically just ripped from our warchief thing, and doesn’t really make any sense with Varian gone, but the writing is bad so this is never brought up ingame.
Ironically, Horde is turning into a democracy as the high king title sticks around, despite this.
Malfurion has thousands of years of experience… sleeping and dealing with druids… and Tyrande has thousands of years of experience of exterminating “lesser” races in glorified skirmishes. Neither seems particularly helpful now. Neither - not to put too fine a point on it - was very helpful during the War of Thorns.
More to the point, they also have other commitments. Tyrande is the high priestess of Elune, and Malfurion is still the archdruid. On the other hand, Anduin isn’t the head of any major religions that I’m aware of. He can commit more of his time to ruling.
Listening to him or not…whatever Tyrande does next is going to determine if the Night Elves exist or die off in the upcoming expansions. Hard enough to listen to Anduin when I have other voices in my head vying for attention.
Being older doesn’t necessarily mean they’re stronger or wiser. Or that they can’t value the opinions of others who are younger. Humans aren’t stupid, they’ve built some of the greatest nations out there. The night elves would have lost half of their wars if not for outside help. Especially in the Third War. And Tyrande is one of the most hot-headed impatient leaders out there.
Plus Shandris even just said it in 8.3. The night elves aren’t tyrants out to take over other kingdoms. They respect the authority of others to rule their own nations and the night elves joined the Alliance later on after it formed. It wasn’t their place to just barge in and take control, but they still valued the help and support.
Same goes for Velen and the draenei too. They want to work with the world, not conquer it out of some silly need for superiority.
Malfurion doesn’t have much experience. He slept through most of the last eon.
Tyrande wanders from unreasonable torture (10,000 years immortal in a box) of prisoners to freeing them when they might be useful.
As for family loss, yes, people die in wars. But these have been wars against aggressors who want to wipe out everyone. Kill all humans, take their homes. Those aren’t the kind of wars people protest about.
This is not like ‘being older’. Illidan spent 10,000 years in solitary confinement, for example. To put that in context, the oldest Sumerian city in real-life history, Eridu, is approximately 7,300 years old.
Do you think that if a man who lived in Eridu was alive today, he would really care about what Trump had to say?
Why would any player listen (willingly) to any leader? the only reason I speak to them at all is while I’m leveling alts and have to wait for them to finish their tauren crap rps.
